Re: My review: 2010 Ford Mustang GT
Nice review. Agreed, once the inventory and rush for the Camaro dwindles down, it will allow for better competition. However, the Mustang is already doing very well in reviews and comparisons, where the Camaro is so-so. As of now, the Camaro has the Mustang over on power and exterior styling, which is subjective of course. The Mustang's solid rear is even being forgiven as the Camaro's added weight is making it feel too disconnected and dissatisfying the driving experience. Having driven the 2010 Mustang GT, Shelby GT500, Camaro SS, the Camaro LT RS, the GT500 became my dream car, the Mustang GT is my honest choice, and the Camaros just flat out broke the necks of all who saw it drive by.
Now, when Ford drops the new 5.0-liter V-8 under the hood of the Mustang, with a speculated 400 horsepower, I will take the Camaro off my list and it will be a new Mustang for me. I would have never imagined I would being saying that, I have been waiting and drooling over the Camaro for a looong time. It hasn't failed my expectations as much as the Mustang has just blindsided me with a wonderful impression.

Re: My review: 2010 Ford Mustang GT
I am sorry but what I read was more like a laundry list of complaints, in need of some proof reading BTW. A futile exercise in nit picking.
The paragraph about the V6 had nothing to do with the review of the GT, but if the purpose was to put the entire Mustang line in perspective, the article might as well had been named "2010 Mustang". You could very well had mentioned the important fact, for example, that among the cited competitors the Mustang is the only one that offers a convertible option, but you seem fixated in a negative that just a very small few of the V6 buyers will know or care about. The availability of a drop top is certainly a much bigger deal.

I haven't read many "so-so" reviews of the Camaro. And while the weight may be a bit higher than ideal, the last thing I'd describe the ride as is "disconnected." I haven't read all the reviews, but the majority that I've read favor the Camaro SS over the Mustang GT (narrowly) or the Camaro V-6 over the Mustang V-6 (in a rout). The most recent was the SS vs. the GT500 and the GT500 did win that review when money wasn't a factor. But when they factor in the additional $17K as-tested price (which should tilt any test in favor of the more expensive vehicle), the SS was the winner. The comparison reviews that I've read which were won by the Mustang usually involve a much more expensive Mustang featuring either the track package or the GT500 model.

Re: My review: 2010 Ford Mustang GT
I haven't seen a 2010 Mustang in person yet, although I might have caught a fleeting glance as one drove by. Since the changes aren't radical, it was hard to tell.
I've heard that the interior is much improved, which it needed to be. This picture isn't impressive though, gotta see it in person. And there's way too many gray interiors in cars. They don't look great in person, and really look terrible in photos.

Re: My review: 2010 Ford Mustang GT
I've driven both of these cars and they are both a blast to drive. What this comes down to is personal opinion. I'm a GM guy so I would go with the Camaro, not only because I'm a GM guy though. The Camaro is just plain fun to drive, all that power and it looks looks and handles great. The Mustang GT is also lots of fun to drive, plenty of power and handles well. Its design is reminiscent of the early fastbacks which in my opinion were the best looking of all the Mustang generations.
The interior on the Camaro is pretty simple, with very little bells and whistles. Which is okay by me. The Mustang interior is very nice as well, We had one in our shop the other day and it had the rear back up screen which was a nice touch. The Mustang has more of the soft touch materials which feels great, but not sure how well it will stand the test of time. Here in Cali where the summers are hot I wonder how long the soft touch materials will last before they start cracking and falling apart. Regardless its very nice. I think the Mustang will age better than the Camaro:
![]() ![]() It looks much more refined, particularly the sheet metal in the wheel area, IMO. |

"I think the Mustang will age better than the Camaro:"
It's a design that comes pre-aged.

Re: My review: 2010 Ford Mustang GT
The camaro SS is a showcar that made it to production.
Way cool car with over 400hp.. and priced so well....paying MSRP is fair. Best two door sport coupe in the market today. IMO

Re: My review: 2010 Ford Mustang GT
Dont ask me...
As for the Mustang aging better, I dont know... The large amount of that dark gray plastic that makes the Mustang look thinner will become an eyesore after years go by, where the Camaro's body color lower facia treatments will look clean and seamless. Much like the third gen Fbody vs the 5.0 body style, the Third gens cleaner, monochromatic look (at least in IROC/90's Z28 trim) looks better then the missmatched body panneled 5.0. IMO anyway. And thats a V8 Mustang and a V6 Camaro. Camaro has a very stylish look in all trims. The SS carries a much more aggressive front facia, but the V6 is much more svelt and streamlined. Ford did a good job with the Mustang, and with this Wild.E.Coyote engine, it should prove to add to the mix. For Ford's sake, hope that the Camaro team cant fix the complaints before next year, or that they can develop a true Z28 by then....

Re: My review: 2010 Ford Mustang GT
Well once the new 5.0L comes out that could change, Ford is always slow coming out with matched performance, but when they do it's pretty darn good. 2003-04 Cobra for instance.
