Re: My 09 Saturn Astra review

That's a nice looking Astra, if I was in the market for a new hatch that's probably the way I would configure mine, except with the stick.

Re: My 09 Saturn Astra review

1ST gear is too low or 2nd is too high. big dropoff in acceleration.
5th is too low. rpms too high. Needs a 6th or taller 5th badly.
Who drives around in 3rd gear at 40-50mph? you should be in 5th.
Seats are not comfortable. after 45minutes my back was hurting and after 4hrs is was in pain.
Overall a decent car but overpriced.

Re: My 09 Saturn Astra review

Congrats on your purchase. Strange that I would see your post because I just left the Saturn dealership yesterday making a deal on a car just like the Astra you got. I tired of the Kia Rio and sold it to CarMax. I got another STS (2003) as a temp car from my brother. So I apply on line and get approved right. The car I apply for is 16,500 and is a 3 door XR. I am like that is too cheap to pass up. So the guy asks how much will I put down and I am like 3K. long story short he says come in your approved drive your car blah blah blah.

Ok I get there and the manager see's me pull up. He won't say anything to me but just watches and the guy helping tries to tell me about a car I know everything about. I say can we look at numbers????? He walks away for 20minutes and then comes back and says are you going to trade in your Cadillac. I said well I thought about it but sometimes I need a bigger car however upkeep on an STS is expensive. So I told him to just run the number by me. I like them and at the last minute I say no let’s leave my car out of this and stick with the first plan.

This is when I click and realize that the car is priced 21,400 something and I say wait a minute the one I applied for was 16,500 and was a demo! He says well we must have sold it and we don't have any more manuals so you have to get an auto. Plus the manager is going to need you to trade your car in for the deal to go through. I said well how is that when I was just about to sign without the addition of my car in the deal. They tried to talk all around me so I just stood up and said well I am going home to think about it.

Man I am mad because they were trying to shaft me but I really want the car. Everyone keeps telling forget the car because I am able to buy rent houses at auctions for under 10 grand right now....some as low as 3K...so they are like why keep buying car. I don't know I submitted an email to the guy this morning saying either he gives me the original deal and pricing or it is off. Long story short.....I hope I have the car soon but I am not betting on it. It seems he was trying the old bait and switch routine.

Re: My 09 Saturn Astra review

I thought the XR 2 door looked very, very good. But the engine is a joke.
It's acceleration and fule mileage are not as good as the compeitition, from what I have read.
