Yes your leather seats are in great condition and they look really comfy. You compare chryslers back then to what we have now you'll notice a big diffrence

It did feel stronger than the Versa or Corolla but I know that is not saying much.
Perhaps an explanation is in order. My Elantra is far from stock. Among numerous other performance modifications, I've Rain-X'd the front half of the car and removed the air filter. Rain-X should cut at least half a second off your 40 to 70 time, and since I drive a gravel road a lot, the engine has loosened up to where it will freely spin 1000 rpm past redline. Sidestep the clutch at 7500 rpm in second, and if not your neck, I guarantee something will snap.

I tried to get some accurate performance numbers with a Gtech-ProSS, but since I couldn't get any readings I'll have to assume that it doesn't work on stealth racers. I did manage to get it to work on the handling course though. When the rear end broke loose and I backed it into a snowbank, it read 1.6 G, so I must have been pulling 1.5 before it let go. That's pretty impressive IMO.

Being a totally honest person, I will have to admit that I get the 40 mpg while driving 7 miles to work and back, with 35 and 45 maximum speed limits, so I rarely get over 50 mph.

I'm not much of a sound system afleecionadio-onamatopoeia type, I mostly listen to the Sounds of Silence, thought messages from my fellow Neanderthals, and talk radio which as we all know is run by Neanderthals so I repeat myself repeat myself. The LHS, or as I call it the LHSD, has an aftermarket system that some minimum-IQ homo sap installed so I can't say fershur whitch is better.
The Imp had a pretty kewl one which automatically raised the volume as cabin background noise got lousder, and since it has a 12 year jump I'd assume it's just as good. I have a similar-to-factory ( recent Sebring) system on order, and since it appears all Chrysler systems for the past 15 years are pretty much the same, we'll see.
BTW, the LHS has an Infinity system, so I plan on suing Nissan/Infinity/Carl Ghostin/Renault/the French guvvermitt et al since I believe they stoleded the Infinity name, and that IMO is unconstooshinal and goes agin everything we hold dear as 'murricans.
You, IROC, fail to mention the great advantage in how much easier it is to load bodies into the LHSD trunk, what with the long low lean look the caah exhibits, and the convenient low, chiropractor-friendly tossover/dragout height.

Good point on the MPGs both being inferior to your Mighty Elantra's, however.
I will be making inquiries into how to get a 10% boost in the Chrysler's final drive ratio. At ChryCo they did things the opposite of GM. Just a couple of V6s, and just a couple of final drives instead of five or more. Hmmmmmmm.

All I can say is a 3-piston Geo Metro 5-speed can get 50 MPG so nyaa nyaaaa nyaaaa nyaa nyaaa nyaaaaa!!!!

And you missed something, in your Elantra pheeding phrenzy: no cabin air filter, while it might seem to appeal to Neanderthals in getting more scents to sniff, is actually a negative point due to the crud that has access to the blower motor and the general crud that makes it into the cabin. After all, the air is not As Pure As The Freshly Driven Snow as it was before Homo Saps started doing the burn baby burn bit and smoking up all our air and our culture and heritage and save the whales and watch out for bunnies!
Sorry, but I think I was on the wrong channel when you were channeling me, because these are the images I got.

I find it remarkable that Al (from Home Improvement) can remain so calm while being attacked/violated by a crazed animal/pelt, but different strokes for different folks, I suppose. At least he's getting his rifle ready, pending the outcome.

Is this you? Cute dog.

I didn't realize Neanderthals were such party animals!

Now we're getting back to nature, and not a moment too soon.

Anyway, I'm sure that you can understand my confusion. While I'll freely admit that the problem could be on this end, I would suggest that you check your remote before remote broadcasting in the future, just in case.

A 3 banger Metro? Please! That's not a performance car like mine, so small wonder that it can eek out a few more mpg.

On the subject of cabin air filters, you know not of what you speak. I dumped a bag of Kingsford charcoal down the defrost vents and if that's not enough, when my driver's side window fell to the bottom I replaced it with a spare furnace filter, so my interior air is at least as clean as that in LA.

If you drop "tra" you have Elan, which was the small, Lotus designed, sportscar that Kia built for a while.

I guess we know where the Elantra gets it's sporty ambitions.

Nice LHS. That Chrysler 3.5 is a great engine. We used to have a '96 Intrepid with that engine.

You may indeed have discovered the performance connection of the name, although the Elantra was introduced 5 or 6 years prior to the Elan. That's not a problem though, because I've always felt it was ahead of it's time.

Also, spelled backwards we come up with Artnale, which at first appears to be so much gibberish. However, if you split it into two words, it becomes Art nale. Throw on a generous dollop of artistic license and presto, nale becomes nail. Art nail? The design was so beautiful that they nailed it as far as making it a work of art.

I hesitate to post this out of fear that I might be revealing too much as to how my brain works, but most people already know that anyway, so "Fire in the hole!".

Nice ride. As for images, all I got was this
Must be something to do with troposphere excitement variance between the hemispheres.

Hmm, very interessstink connections.

Nice looking nalE, BTW. Is it a taxi?

I had heard that KIA was cahngnig tis neam ot AIK, or saw it AKI sa in aikey-breaky heart?

BTW, Lotus (or Sutol for the CIA and KGB agents sniffing around here seeking Hienddd Messages from the nayaM Calendar [radenlaC] or algore's doctoral dissertation on plowing Tennessee hillsides with a mule while hanging out in a toney Maryland perp school) has been building Elites and Elans (KGB note: setilE & snalE) since the 60s IIRC.

Considering that the tropospheric (CIA note: cirehpsoport...can be broken down into cire[sire?] hp [HP?] so [SO?] port [PORT?] which as we all (KBG note: aka YAWL) know is intimately related to a hemispheric excitement variance...wait, I'm going to have to footnote [eton-toof] this for the agents out there, it's getting cornfusing.

HAVE A NICE DAY!

And yes, I like the 1st Gen 3.5 Chrysler. Plenty of low down torque, MPGs still a bit iffy. And interesting that the whole 3.3/3.8 OHV and the 3.5 OHC family is related and uses some common parts.

Yes, but those Elans weren't related to Kia in anyway. The 90's Elan design, on the other hand, was sold to Kia, who built the car themselves for a year.

BTW, did you happen to notice what's different about the LHS compared to other front-wheel drive cars (think engine)?
