I like the Kia Soul... much more than the Nissan Cube and the 2nd gen xB.

The original 1st gen xB is still the best of the bunch, though.

A white xB... lowered with 14" chrome wheels. Ooh yeah.

Nah, 1st gen xA is better. Gimme an electric blue one, lowered on satin aluminum wheels.

How well do the interior musically sensitive lights work? Is it just the speakers or is there more ambient lighting that does it as well?

I'd like to point out that the Soul gets crappier mileage than a 2010 Terrain, a bigger, even less aerodynamic box. What's up with that?

Only on the highway. With either engine the Soul is still rated for better city mileage. Small cars like the Soul are more often than not geared for more around-town pep, and no doubt it helps that the Equinox/Terrain have more automatic transmission gears than does any Soul, manual or automatic.

I never got that to work, actually. The owner's manual wasn't very specific about whether it needed to be a certain type of format (CD only, maybe?) or a certain volume, but whenever I switched it to "music" the speaker glow just turned off.

Funny you should mention that:

I'm starting to warm up to this little box. How's parallel parking in it?

In my opinion, I think this looks better than the Xb, and the dumb Cube from Nissan. It's definitely strange but looks ok to me.

I never had to parallel park, but it's so short (in length) that it should be quite easy.

No, you don't get better mileage. Soul Sport gets better COMBINED economy (as in, real world) than your Malibu. So in all actuality one should buy this car for fuel economy.

As for the Terrain, it's base engine can only match the Soul's UPGRADED engine in combined economy; as such, the Soul's base engine beats out the Terrain.

On which friggin' planet are you yahoos getting your fuel economy numbers from?

The hamsters caught the beat.

To be fair, the "upgraded engine" in the Soul comes in almost every Soul model. The base 1.6-liter is stickshift only and does not seem targeted for high sales volume.

The xB looks a lot better IMO, especially because of the sportier ride height. Also the flat roof makes a lot more sense.
