Re: I have a Kia Soul for a week, does anyone have any questions about it?

EPA is 24 city/30 hwy? I get better than that in my midsize 3300+ pound sedan. lol So obviously one shouldn't buy this car for gas mileage, but really if someone like the way it looks. I will say, Kia (and Hyundai) has sure come a long way.

Maybe, but I'm partial to the Nissan Versa, which is completely dull but very comfortable and a great deal.

I just had a short drive in the base 1.6-liter Soul today (EPA ratings: 26 city / 31 highway), and if I were to get one, that would be the car instead of a loaded Sport.

What do you think of the ride height. Does it feel like it sits up more like an suv or a car? Also what do you think of the cargo area compared to other cars you've driven?

It feels much more SUV-like even than most small cars with a high seating position, at least looking forward. The cargo area is boxy and pretty spacious, and the Soul is wider than the average subcompact. (I first learned this at the gas station yesterday -- normally when cleaning the windshield of a small car I can reach all the way across without leaning.) The cargo floor is high, though.

I quite like the Soul, but then again I liked the look of the Element and xB. There's something I really like about the profile of that car, especially the side windows. They seem sort of carved out of the sheet metal.

Assuming you've driven one, how does the Soul compare to the Rio5?

I haven't driven the Rio, but I've been in them enough to note a huge difference is the interior space. The Rio5 is one of the smallest of the subcompact hatchbacks, with tight rear seating and cargo space and a sedan-low seating position. In terms of space and the driver's height, the Soul feels much more like a compact SUV.

Are your reviews on the examiner newspaper? Because I barely get a chance to read them (even though they drop by my house daily).

Does it fit more than 4 hamsters?

That's pretty norm for this segment (cute-utes) which have the aerodynamics of a box and to keep the price low, less advanced trannies and engines w/o the latest fuel saving technologies.

Reportedly, down the line, the Soul will get a more advanced powerplant and powertrain, but that will likely come w/ a price increase as well.

Examiner.com has the same parent company as the DC Examiner newspaper, but it's not the same organization.
