I got to see the 07 Camry

2007 Toyota Camry SE
Can The Camry Keep up its Sales crown with this redesigned Model?
By: FordRules

Interior:
Probaly the Best Area of the Car. The Glow-In-the-Dark plastic was really ugly. Dash was soft, Stereo sounded pretty good. The Silver Metallic looked like a Mazda interior. Overall 9/10, 9.5 If there wasnt the Glow in the Dark stuff.

Exterior:
Was not impressed at all. Uggggly! I find its a Evolved design. Looks quite a bit like the older model, but looks different enough. I dont like the area where the Toyota badge is. Should be in the grill. I like the ProjectorBeam headlights though. The XLE has a better front grill. The Mesh doesnt look very good, good be a bit lighter. IMHO, the Fusion looks alot better. For some reason the Camry looks very long compared to the Fusion. Overall 6.5/10, Toyota could fix a few things and it would be better.Body kit looks pretty good. Doors close OK.

I Didnt drive it so, I cant tell you how good that is. From what Ive Heard it is fast.

Overall: 7/10.

Conclusion:
This car is Overall pretty good, but some of the things of the car is awful. I think Toyota rushed it to the Market due to Fierce competition from Hyundai and Ford. If they took more time designing and thinking it out it would be alot better. I would never buy a Mid Size 4 Door Saloon though...
Well mabye a 6 or Fusion SVT.

Re: Ok I got to se the 07 Camry...... Lol

I really wonder how this car is going to resonate with the conservative crowd that has typically being the customer base for this car.

I would never have looked at a Camry in the past and this one is getting closer to mainstream styling vs the old 'no offense' styling.

Time will tell if the space age interior will put off their customer base.

FordRules, I'm actually quite impressed with your write up. Nothing in it I could point out as blatantly biased except the last part about never buying one. I do agree that the badge belongs in the grille like, but at least the front end won't blind oncoming traffic on a sunny day... say like, the Fusion's. Just messin' with you... or am I??
As for the plastic, is it really glow in the dark or is it lit up by back lights? When I tested the XLE I couldn't tell since it was very sunny. I would also say that the dashboard is more Honda Accord inspired as opposed to the Mazda 6, especially down where that little storage cubby is.
For a Camry, this is a very daring design. Some people think it's OK, others love it or hate it. Whichever way you stand, be prepared to start seeing a ton of them on the road.
Again, nice write up FR, much better compared to what I was expecting from you.

i dont think they rushed it. I also think its the best of the competition out there in the quiet/comfort/luxury areas.

but i do think its ugly, and the center stack in the interior looks weird, and WTH are those seats made of?

Re: Ok I got to se the 07 Camry...... Lol

The seats look OK (vey nice fabric), but seem not to provide any lateral support at all. Do they?

I am OK with the "glow-in-the-dark" plastic as I see it in the photos, I've got a Sharp stereo that looks like that and this makes me feel the central stack looks like a good stereo, which is a good thing in my book, and also quite innovative in the world of "we ran out of ideas" interiors.

Nevertheless, I am surprised Toyota left out some parts that look so terribly dated, like the central vents and the overall feel of the upper dash. I also don't know what they were thinking when they designed that wheel - I am conservative in my tastes, I think, and I wouldn't mind that exterior design, but that wheel would put me off.

Those seats are made of only the highest quality rental car fabric you're going to find probably anywhere. Other than that, the XLE's center stack and gauge cluster is much nicer than the SE's.

Bravada, that's the SE's steering wheel and it's a three spoke design. The other models get the four spoke steering wheel.
edit: I've gone over a few pictures, and I'm pretty sure that the blue "plasmaglow" stuff is backlit.

Looks very Mazdaish in te grill and headlights. I'm not a fan of light interiors, the controls look kinda out of place for a Toyota.

You're right, and it looks really nice at night. It gives off a nice aura and ambient light.

Yea the glow-in-the-dark plastic makes it look ugly in the daytime.

That's what I thought, I think it's a really cool feature and makes the Camry unique and upscale.
