Yet Cadillac is still profitable. Marketing for brands like Audi, Mercedes and BMW is MUCH different. The cars are more expensive, more marketing is require for a slightly smaller amount of units sold.
If the Fiesta had $4k per units sold, Ford would be in VERY bad trouble. One of the reasons the Astra was so unprofitable was because of this very program, the cost to marketing was too high because the main form of marketing was events and they did not generate enough people.

As for me, I went to check out the bi-level halogen projectors and see how the interior felt and worked. I came away impressed at the handling, but unimpressed at the lack of options and the low fuel economy for the reserved power output. When pricing was announced I knew it would be a fail, but I had hopes that it would satisfy the people wanting a real German compact. We all know how that turned out.

Saturn really did a lot of this type of marketing for a while to see if it would help boost their PR. Unfortunately for them was although they did that, people had a hard time finding the dealerships to buy the cars after the event. Most of the events were done at malls and in Canada most in front of Future Shop. Depending on the location, some where a great success and others a total flop. But for the most part they had too many of the flops which essentially made the entire brand and car much less profitable than it could have been (or at least come close to breaking even).
