Drove the Enclave Today

My thoughts.
It needs an MCE immidietely, to address very minor issues. Namely.
  • Center Stack Design into something similar to the La Crosse
  • Interior plastics Grain situation- Feels Cheap
  • A Better Technology suite for the Vehicle

Here is the problem, I drove this vehicle today back to back with a Buick La Crosse. The Center stack just feels cheap, and the plastics grain, compared to the dash stiching on the La Crosse, compared to the plastics grains on my HHR, to the Enclave makes the Enclave feel like it does not belong.
I also sat in a CTS and SRX in the same showroom.

The Insert here type Radio on the Enlave and common GM switch gear in it, just makes it outclassed by the SRX and the La Crosse.

The interior is a mix of Triumph and Mediocrity. I tend to be brief. My take is this. The Truck is super quiet, powerful engine, super smooth shifts, responsive powertrain, planted road feel, drives like a dream, the Guages are top notch, the wood grain awesome, the problem is the plastics grain on the Dash reminded me of the HHR and the center stack looks like it comes straight from a Chevy.
Next to the La Crosse, its simply not acceptable. Even the Radio was the exact same one I have on my HHR.
Not good.

The La Crosse information center on the radio, Bluetooth connectivity, etc, very original center stach, stiching and leather on all door panels and accross the dash with what seems like leather material wrapping the entire cabin, is head and shoulders above the Enclave. The Enclave simply needs more inside to catch up to the La Crosse. Hence the need for an Interior MCE to upgrade the interior.

I can see your points and believe them to be valid thank you for the details

Thank you. The Enlcaves interior does not belong to the same floor with the Enclave. The La Crosse is a deal killer for the Enclave. Especially when you have platinum Cadillacs or the New SRX on the same floor. The Truck looks great until you sit inside, and the center stack just looks cheap.

those pics definitely prove your point!! I will say this you can't sell the LaCrosse in the crappy showrooms they are in either

Dude, the La Crosse is soooo good, it will practically sell itself. Drive it. I will try drive the MKS tommorow to compare. But, Man, that car is nice.
I cannot beleive I am thinking its my next ride. A Buick for my midlife crisis.

Re: Drove the Enclave Today

The LaCrosse is lightyears better than the Enclave, but it could still benefit from better materials. I wish General Motors would go to school and takes notes from Professor Audi...piano black trim, aluminum touches around vents and the controls (rather than plastic chrome..eww), along with alcantara headliners and pillers would be a nice start..

What the hell does the showroom have to do with the car that is being sold? I have never said I will not buy that car or truck cuz the paint in this place is getting old! You have got to be kidding me, this has got to be the worse excuse I have ever heard in terms of not buying a car!

When are people going to be happy with gm's interiors? They are so much better than they use to be, and are only getting better!

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Remember our beloved Buick only 4-5 years ago? The Enclave was the first good thing to come to Buick in a long time. It was cherished by all for it's top notch quality and high class. Now it looks like a sore spot in the lineup. I applaud GM for it's stunning work done with the Lacrosse. It is truly high class, but is now getting close to Cadillac territory. I hate to say it, but Buick may need to hold the Lacrosse as it's flagship and work on Cadillac a bit more.

Re: Drove the Enclave Today

Before I bought my caddy CTS I seriously was going to buy the Enclave..

That vehicle was stunning and wonderfully quiet..

I'd have to say it was the best SUV out there...but I didn't need 7 passenger seating....but if I would have...

The enclave would have been my choice..

Re: Drove the Enclave Today

The center stack design does need an update - just keep in mind that this was the first "new" Buick - so the design may be slightly dated by now.. The LaCrosse is brand new - and it was designed by the Chinese.. I'm sure the next Enclave will have just as impressive an interior.. If it were the other way around and the new LaCrosse came out a few years ago - and the Enclave was brand new, the scenario would be reversed..

Interior plastics ARE a bit cheap. The interior IS very nice, however.. Not Lexus quality like some people like to think. My wife and I spent a lot of time in both the Enclave and RX350 a few months ago. She loved the Enclave but the quality was obviously with the RX350.

And of course, technology will catch up with the Enclave with the next design. I see the Enclave as Buick's first (most recent) attempt at a valid luxury SUV. They did a good job...
