Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible

We received a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible, long story, anyways, it was given to us, barely been driven, family member bought it and got sick, so it only has a couple hundred kilometers on it. Here's my review:

Acceleration:
The 2.7L V6 has good enough power to move this beast around, it's no speed demon like my alero, but it's quite good. The transmission is generally smooth but can be jerky occasionally

Fuel Economy:
Impressive, the V6 is very efficient, in 5 days of driving so far, we've used almost half a tank, and doing tons of city driving.

Handling:
The Sebring with the 16 inch tires handles quite well with very little lean in turns, the steering feel is great, the brake pedal is on the soft side, but not jerky or spongy feeling.

Quietness:
This car is quieter compared to most convertibles, however, it's not as quiet as lets say a Lexus or a Buick. The V6 has a refined throaty growl when you start it up, and stays that way all the way up to redline.

Interior:
The interior is very roomy and comfortable, the materials aren't class leading, but not bad at all, the leather and suede seats are very nice and the front seats are heated and come with 6 different levels. The cloth top in our Touring model is tan, flows well with the black exterior, the material is durable and the top opens or closes quickly. The DIC or traveller's display provides many functions like compass, temp, DTE, economy etc. The only downside to the interior is the radio, while the sound quality isn't bad, it still can't match Delco or the monsoon setups that GM uses, the radio itself is rather generic looking and is used in just about every chrysler, dodge, jeep product, even the Dodge Viper. This radio lacks features that GM and Ford use like RDS and SCV. It also looks like the offspring of the radio found in the 1990 Plymouth Voyager we used to have. I would prefer to see the new radio found in the LX cars and 2006 PT Cruiser. cargo room is good, with enough room to fit grocery bags and a few suitcases.

Overall:
People who diss the Sebring really haven't driven one, the car isn't a sports car or a luxury car, but a balance of a performance, luxury, comfort and style all packaged together in one good looking convertible. This car is meant for those who loves the things mentioned above and love the wind in their hair when the top's down. The sedan is more affordable and also good looking and the touring and limited models come equipped with some nice stuff and a pretty good price

I think people diss the Sebring/Stratus, because other than the convertible (which only comes as a Chrysler) the whole line is a piece of ****************.

well i've never driven a sedan so i wouldn't know, but the convertible looks good, drives great so I'd assume that the sedan would as well

we have the 2.7L V6 and it may be a bit slower than our saab but it's a heavier car, it has no problem keeping up with traffic or passing on the highway

Re: Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible

I've driven the sedan and convertible, 4 & 6 cylinders. The convertible looks nice and has a lot of interior room for a convertible. That being said, the interior is low rent, the V6 sounds like a 4-cylinder, and the car Harlem Shakes over bumps. The chassis flex is quite extreme for this day an age. Hopefully the all new one next year will have that cured.

I found the V6 to be quite throaty, nothing like 4-cylinder at all
The chassis and suspension are great, no rattles, the car stays compliant but firm and has very little lean in turns

Re: Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible

I saw it a couple of years ago and I thought, wow that would look awesome as the next sebring, so I did a little searching this evening and lo and behold I find it, it's the 300 Hemi C convertible concept, a mighty fine one if i do say so myself

Beautiful!!!

It would fit perfectly in the newer more upscale car range chrysler is trying to create. Lets hope some of these features and style are put on the next one.
