I've found the sticker ratings in Oz to be fairly misleading. Once again, it is down to how you drive and by the sounds of it, shifting at 2500-3000 is a pretty good choice for such a small vehicle. I think some people get mislead by trying to stay in a higher gear, without realising that if they aren't make use of available torque (in a gear lower) they are labouring the engine and it isn't running as efficiently.
