Buicktech Drives '07 Denali W/Pics!

My dad brought home one of the Denalis from the store today to see what all the fuss was about, so while it was home I figured I'd take it for a little drive.

Sorry Mags, gotta borrow your format, it's really good. Plus imitation is flatery!

Exterior:
Though not as in your face as others in the segment, it is a very clean, very upscale design. Though I wish it had styling that was a little edgier, it is still a handsome vehicle. The clear taillights are a cool touch, as is the jeweled headlights. The thing I like the best is how tight the body panels fit together.
My only drawback is that they coulda hid the back-up camera a little better.
8/10

Interior:
Not too bad. Everything was tight and extremly quite (on par with the Allure CXS my dad normally drives). The only real noise you can hear is the faint exhaust rumble (which is absolutly awsome!). As I was cruising at 60 mph there was no road or wind noise, just faint exhaust noise. No creaking, no wooshing, no humming, just XM Comedy and a great burble.
A qualm is the wood grain. It kinda don't fit in, it would have looked better with a lighter color to go with the light grey leather.
9/10

Ride:
Awsome. It doesn't float, but it doesn't translate every road bump into your arse. It has one of the best rides I've felt in a large vehicle! It is composed and smooth, awsome.
10/10

Drivetrain:
6.2L VVT V8 with the 6spd manumatic, it has plenty of power, sounds great and is smooth, so, whats wrong with it? The only thing I could think of was more power, but thats the way I feel about every vehicle!
9/10

Price: Yikes, $75,923 as tested, yikes.

Anyways tried not to be biased, maybe I was but I really like this product!

Wow, you must really like power to think the 6.2 needs more hp.

Your pics are a bit dark, but otherwise nice little review. Have you driven any other premium SUVs you can compare it to?

You can get an Escalade for less than that.

I love unadultered power. I love fast cars, but my true love is fast boats.
My dad has a 28' 600hp Donzi powered by a bored 540 Chevy (out to about 555 CID) any one want pics? Dad was saying we need a power upgrade so we could do 95mph this year, I agree, 80mph is too slow on water.
BTW I've blown up our 120 hp 1200cc Polaris Genisis water craft 3 times so far doing regular 60mph runs, I like speed.

Just older Escalades and Denalis. I drove a Lexus Somthing last year and an Acura Thing a couple months ago, but nothing really stood out

Re: Buicktech Drives '07 Denali W/Pics!

My wife had a 2000 Yukon Denali. That Denali really stood apart from the standard Yukon. The entire front end was unique and still looks great on the road when I see them. The interior floor carpeting was a mile deep. You actually felt that you had something above a Yukon.

Today, I get the feeling that GM is milking the Denali name and is less interested in making it stand out. I spent months with a 2006 Envoy Denali, which was more 'Envoy' than 'Denali'. My wife didn't care for the cheapness of the Yukon Denali since her 2000, so gave up on them.

I hope GMC can truly differentiate the Denali from the base Yukon (or Envoy or Sierra) because it seems to be less of an enhancement today than it did 6 years ago.

Re: Buicktech Drives '07 Denali W/Pics!

I'm with you Buicktech, i always want more power too. I've owned 2 8.1L's now in burbs and it has fed my addiction. I REALLY hope I can get the 8.1L in the new 900's burbs AND pick-ups sooner than later. My pick-up's 6.0 is nice, but when i drive the 8.1, I say 'darn this is nice' everytime to my wife, and she keeps saying, 'it's mine, drive your own'

That's CDN, and you can probably configure the Slade to cost more (even if that overlaps the base price).
