Another Asian Car beats GM
My wife and I looked at a new Huyndai Genesis this weekend. She told me that she may buy this car sometime soon.
This Genesis has a gorgeous design. Beautiful interior with sharp exterior trim. It's more likely a Lexus or a BMW. Also, it has a smooth drive too, much better interior look than my Accord. I don't think GM can beat this vehicle on the design. GM needs to think about its design for the future sadan cars. Tony |

Back for more I see? lol
Most people here, myself included, like the Genesis just fine. They followed a cookie cutter pattern made by the Lexus LS400/430/460. And of course Lexus followed the S-Class Mercedes. But this isn't exactly the market GM was aiming for. The Cadillac STS is closest in size and equipment as far as GM goes. Did you even look at a Cadillac STS? |

Re: Another Asian Car beats GM
Actually, GM's competition for the Genesis would probably be the G8.

Re: Another Asian Car beats GM
CTS, ok is closer in size than I thought to the Hyundai (~5" shorter, and ~2" narrower). The G8 also has the size to compete, but not the luxury, or the looks. I am not saying the the G8 is ugly.....but I am saying if someone likes the Hyundai Genesis style......Then they would chose an Infiniti G37 coupe over a Mustang. But a person who prefers the Mustang would likely prefer the G8 over a Hyundai Genesis.
Different strokes for different folks. |

Re: Another Asian Car beats GM
I'm sure the Genesis (sedan) is a nicely engineered car, but design-wise, the exterior is just so generic looking IMO (especially the side profile). It seems like it would be pretty hard to specifically notice one driving down the road, unlike a CTS, 300C, G8, etc.

Re: Another Asian Car beats GM
I really don't see anything special about the genesis...like Motortrend said in an article, it's just a bunch of cars thrown together into one. In all honesty, hyundai didn't do anything revolutionary or groundbreaking with it.
And seriously buddy, if you have nothing good to say about GM, then leave. Nobody wants to hear your incessant import-thumping banter.

They won't be the standard of the world for some time if ever, but they'll be meat and potatoes for a good while. That's where GM has to start winning the perception battle, IMO; they have to PROVE that the Genesis is ordinary...as are Acuras, Infinitis, and Lexi. |

![]() ![]() ![]() The 2008 STS was just updated... it got a "new" interior and a "new" grill... It is riding on an update that is barely 13 months old... You know it is sad when we update a car and no-one notices.
