2010 Buick LaCrosse CX

I was coming back from the beach and stopped by a Buick dealer to see if they had any new LaCrosse's. To my surprise they had one and they were still open. They were also kind enough to let me test drive it alone with my friend.

The model I saw was white, beige cloth interior, 17" tires, no GPS. The dealer said they had preorders for several cars which haven't arrive yet.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures, because I wasn't planning on going for a drive and it was dark anyway. But here are my overall impressions coming from someone who is considering buying the LaCrosse or a CTS.

- It didn't really wow me where I wanted to run out and buy it, but it was nice.
- If you like chrome, you will love the exterior.
- The tires looked a little small/unimpressive for the car, but I think the 18" on the CXS may look better
- The radio will take a little to get used (where to press), but I like the design and all of the buttons. The quality of the audio was also good.
- The radio display didn't look that bad without the GPS screen. It's a rectanglular display that is set in a little bit. Reminded a little of the dispaly on the Astra, but a lot nicer IMHO.
- On the IP, in front of the driver between the 2 main guages is a rectangular box. That box was displaying a digital readout of my speed. I assume this can be changed to display other info, but I liked the speed read out. It felt like my HUD on my Grand Prix, except you have to look down some.
- The car definitely had a very good quality interior and was impressive.
- The car was extremely quiet and smooth when driving. When going over a bump, you hear a distant 'thud'. At other times, when there were no noises, it felt almost like diving an electric car.
- The engine could have been stronger IMHO. It felt a lot like the 3.8 in my Grand Prix. But I was hoping for something faster where there is a less of a lag when you step on the gas. Again, the CXS may take care of this.
- The handling felt similar to my Grand Prix, which is good. Not too tight or loose. Maybe slightly looser than my Grand Prix.
- Turning radius was very good.

All in all, a very good car and something I'll definitely consider. Can't wait to test drive the CXS to see how it compares.

The screen between the two gauges is the Driver's Information Center. Gives readouts such as speed, fuel economy, oil life, TPMS, trip computer, etc.

Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse CX

When I test drove this car I was very impressed... especially since I grew up with Buicks from the 80's and 90's. This is the best Buick I have ever been in or driven.
My one issue was...although the drivers seat (cockpit) was very engaging and looked amazing... due to the layout and the continuos flow from the dash to the door panels and centre console, I found the space/room for my legs/knees very limited and tight. It would definetely be a concern for me on longer drives...I felt like I had the same leg space as I do in my Sunfire.

I haven't got to seen the new LaCrosse yet. I went to the dealer, so far none to speak of. The dealership told me that they preordered 10, but yet haven't receive them yet.

Re: 2010 Buick LaCrosse CX

I have to say I am pleased that GM is getting away from making their base trim levels look cheap or look as if they are obviously missing something. The base LaCrosse, Malibu, and new Equinox models look great without screaming to the world "this is the cheapo model"! The interior of the LaCrosse CX looks just as upscale as the CXL/CXS models, retaining the dash and door stitching, wood, silver and chrome trim. The only things I would miss are the chrome-trimmed foglamps, larger wheels and integrated exhaust tips from the other trim levels. Even without those details, it looks great and upscale.
