2006 Lexus GS300 interior review.

Today I was getting my truch service at a local Toyota/Lexus dealership. I had some to look around at some of the cars and one of them was the all new 2006 Lexus GS300. To me it looks as if Lexus has targeted import buyers rather than any existing domestic buyers. The interior looks as if it is designed to appeal to Infiniti and Acura buyers.

Overall the interior materials was very impressive. There was a very nice smell to the interior of the car which reminds me of Cadillacs leather interiors. The seats were very comfortable, the dash layout was nice. Overall the interior was nice, however it just for some reason (Very similar to my impressions of the Avalon) was not what I really would want to be living with for many years of ownership.

I was not impressed with the hidden panel of switches next to the driver, I didn't like the door panels (window switches) seems angled a little awkward.

Overall the car was nice but didn't do it for me if I was going to buy one. I would rather have an LS or pre 05STS interior over the GS. One thing I will say about the GS interior is that Lexus is trying to be different than usual with their cars but I am not sure if this is a positive idea.

You'd take a Seville over the new GS?

I would take the function and form of the pre 04-05 STS over the GS. I don't know about build quality but I always liked the design of that interior .

Did you read my review. I never said the STS was better than Lexus, I just prefered it better. Just like the Escalade interior which is made cheap, but I think it serves it's purpose better than the Navigator which uses better materials. . Get what I am saying.

I think teh pre-2005 STS interior had a better wood trim than the current. But in terms of build quality? It's still the GS... especially over the current STS.

Re: 2006 Lexus GS300 interior review.

As long as I can turn on the radio and windshielf wipers in the Lexus, I don't really see how the Seville is more functional. You're entitled to your opinion, though.
