2006 GMC Sierra Denali Full Test

2006 GMC Sierra Denali

The Sierra Denali by GMC is my favorite looking truck in pick up market. I have always liked the look of the truck since the C3 debuted a few years ago. For some reason I have always like the Denali trim when used on the pickups instead of the SUV. For 2005 the Denali recieved a HP upgrade and four full doors.

Overall the truck is an appealing package. Having 345HP on tap, the Sierra Denali had no trouble getting up to to speed whether on side roads or on the highway. Wind noise was barely audible on the highsway. As I said, the Sierra Denali has 345HP but it really feel like it had 345Hp, more like 300HP.

The ride was ok. I expected a little smoother ride when going over light bumps but it seemed that the rear suspension was a little over active, this is usually common with pick up trucks. The standard full time all wheel drive is a must for any truck. This truck felt secure and attached to the road.

Inside the Denali has all the options you can think out, however I was expecting a navigation system and the a fuel economy information center. I have never really liked GM idea of seat belts on full size trucks as this got a little annoying. The Denali also came with a convenient sun roof and rear DVD player.

A couple shortcoming were noticed. First, this trucks needs a five speed transmission, for $56,000 Can I was expected a 5 speed. Second, side air bags and stabilitrak were not offered as this is also a must, finally GMC could of done something with the bed. They could of offered a standard sprayed in bed liner and a premium cargo cover instead of the $3000 DVD package.

Overall a very nice truck with cool rims but a host of shortcomings that need to be addessed.
