2006 Chevy Cobalt LS
Thought I would share my experience with a 2006 Cobalt coupe rental car courtesy of Enterprise.
I picked it out because I wanted to drive the Cobalt. Having driven Cavaliers, I did not expect to be impressed. I was sorely mistaken! The Cobalt is a good looking car. The interior is much classier than any econo-box that I've ever driven. The gauges were clear and easy to read, the seats were firm but comfortable, the plastic on the dash looked like it would be used in a Jetta. The handling is very tight. The interior of the car has a feel of quality that I haven't yet felt in any car that I've owned. The engine was very peppy for a base model with automatic. The driver information center was a nice touch and showed a MPG of 29.5 in highway driving @ 70 MPH. The stereo sounded very good. The engine also had enough pep to pull the car up pretty steep hills without so much as a strain. The one problem I can find is the blind spots when merging or driving in reverse. The car has come very thick C pillars, and combined with the huge headrests, backing up is an exercise in faith. I also made sure to look twice and change lanes once on the interstate. When I take the car back on Sunday I'm quite certain I'll be sad. The Cobalt has made a true believer out of me and I will add it to my list of "cars to buy if I feel like making payments (and need it)" .

Re: 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS
It sounds like the coupe drives as good as it looks. Are there big interior differences between the different LS versions?

Re: 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS
I just wrote a whole review on a rental Cobalt coupe LS and posted it 2 hours before yours. Just bad timing for both of us I guess.
Check mine out, it's longer and more detailed. http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/s...828#post339828

As I said in the review, the Cobalt is the tightest, highest quality vehicle I have yet experienced. I wonder if Enterprise will just put the whole thing on the Amex? ![]() |
