1K on the Enclave Clock
So,
Its been 1 month and 1000 miles on the odometer for our Enclave. Heres my $0.02: This is a vehicle no one was sure GM could still build. It is very quiet, tight, comfortable and looks great - we still get compliments from folks in our neighborhood and outside about how nice the Enclave looks. Inside - very inviting and comfortable. Layout of gauges and such is good - ther is plenty of storage space. I was worried when I pulled all the 'crap' out of my Tahoe and wondered where it would go in the Enclave - much to my surprise it all found a place and with its many storage areas things are more organized! Mechanical - v6 is plenty of motor for this vehicle, though I dont need to tow a boat . 6 speed doesnt like to down shift, however other Enclave owners have gone to manual mode and it seems more willing to move up and down in that setting (or manually if you like)Pluses: Style Motor Comfort Nav+backup camera AUX port on radio Rear access/fold flat seats Storage everywhere Quiet tuning Wood accented steering wheel Dual Sunroofs Articulating HID headlights Minuses: Bluetooth not an option...really stands out in this arena GM! 6 speed still tends to hold gear too long Gas mileage so far - heard it gets better as motor unwinds a bit Wishes: 1 more outlet in front for electronics Rain sensing wipers HUD Bluetooth obviously ![]() There is only 1 thing Id really consider changing in this and all Lambdas. The dash layout is nice - however the Speedo is on the RH side and off center - the Tach is LH side off center. Without the HUD option I find myself not really seeing the Speedometer - A new layout with the speedomoter in the center and other gauges hanging off of it would be preferred to me over the current layout. Just my pref and in no way impacts the useability of the current design GM hit a homerun with the Enclave for me - It couldve been a Grand Slam with a few more additions.

Re: 1K on the Enclave Clock
Great feedback. Sounds like the family vehicle to own right now. Hopefully they will be as highly regarded in two and half years when our Freestyle is paid off.
An interview discussing mentioned a female engineer who worked on the Enclave. She was adamant about not putting rain sensing wipers on the vehicle because in her opinion the never work the way you want them too.

Re: 1K on the Enclave Clock
I agree with you. I wish the Enclave also had proper iPod connectivity. Rather lame that you can get it on a Focus but not on an Enclave. GM even offers a kit for the Cobalt, but it's not standard on an Enclave? They have to stop doing these little stupidities.
I don't really care if it has HUD or not, though I heard it was the laminated windshield that precluded it. They're working on it, but not yet. Mine no longer holds gears weirdly, or I'm just used to it, or it's so subtle I don't sense it anymore. I'd love to have a 2-Mode Enclave. And, yes, the mileage gets appreciably better. Reset the computer to see what you're getting now. It's way better than the first few weeks! Those were 1960s era bad! |

Re: 1K on the Enclave Clock
The 3.6 does get better mileage after being driven a while. I had a Rendezvous that had the 3.6 from work for a weekend that got about 15 MPG with only a few hundred miles on it. After a couple thousand miles it was getting 22-24 regularly.

Re: 1K on the Enclave Clock
Excellent with the MPG feedback
![]() As for Rain Sensing wipers, we have it on our 325xi - BMWs system kinda stinks as you need to turn it on everytime you start the car even though its set on the wiper stalk (ie, turn off, turn on again). Only reason I really think the Enclave should have this is the multi function stalk for a 'quick wipe' isnt super friendly - I almost prefer the old 'tab' on the switch as its easy to graps and push.

Re: 1K on the Enclave Clock
I am probably one of the few people who actually liked the old multi-function lever on the turn signal that all GM vehicles had. You always knew how it all worked! LOL!

Re: 1K on the Enclave Clock
They are adding the iPod connect to all models eventually. Dealer-installed of course, but you should be able to get it on your Enclave soon.

Your not the only one--GM used to get bashed for their multifunction stalk all the time, but really it was very functional. All it really needed was an improvement in the switch gear feel. When I go from the Uplander (which has a good feel to the stalk) back to the old 94 Olds you can really feel the difference. The Olds stalk feels rickity but in fact proves quite durable. |

Re: 1K on the Enclave Clock
Excellent! Thanks for the update, nsap. I'll be getting one. I don't know why it wasn't just included from the get go. It's not like the iPod is something new.
