08 Saturn Vue Test Drive

So today I was off from work and decided to drive by a friend’s house. I passed a Saturn dealer and decided to go in and see if they had an Astra. Of course they didn’t but the sales guy asked me was I interested in any thing else. So I said yea let me test drive a base model Vue in silver. He said ok and found one and we went out for a test drive.

First let me say GM did an outstanding job on the interior of this little SUV. Even with cloth it felt quality and had nice touches like the steering wheel design and the break handle. With leather and the dark wood it looks amazing. So I took it out to get a feel for it and of course the engine is a little fuzzy right off the line but gets better with speed. The most important thing is that it pulls the SUV without any issue and I really don’t see problem with the set up like others. I think I would paint the top radio part of the dash piano black and put in a pioneer navigation system but I wonder what that would do to the Onstar which I want. I don’t care about turn by turn but I do still want the service. Does anyone know if you can change the head unit and keep Onstar?

Anyway I was pleasantly surprised and the truck came in at 22K because of dealer installed options, bastar*s, but it did have the 2K rebate. If GM ups or keeps the current rebate I may get one instead of the Astra. Actually I was going to buy it but I told the guy I was going to put 8K down but he did not want to let me go without a check. I told him the money is in an online savings and that I would have to transfer it first. He said well you have to fax us a copy of a statement so we can see you have the money. That ticked me so I left and may buy it some where else. Anyway it is going to be a tuff choice between this and the Astra! I test drove one that look just like the one below. I plan on putting on some nice 18’s or 19’s with a little lip if I get it.

Nice review. What is the difference in gas mileage. If it is not significant, go for the Vue. I may be facing a similar choice in the spring, so it will be interesting which one you choose. What colour are thinking of? I like the Vue in the silver myself.

Well the Vue gets 19/26 and the Astra gets what 24/32 so you can see who wins out there. If I get it then it will be just like the one above. Question is will they have an Astra by the 15th of the month.

We love the Vue. You won't be disappointed if you buy one.

Great shot of our Vue!

Re: 08 Saturn Vue Test Drive

LOL! wow that is yours? It looks just like the one I drove down to the wheels. GM still has not released what the new incentives will be but I hope they at least keep it at the current level so that it will cover most of the TT&L. What kind of MPG do you get in real life?
