WTB: winter beater
Even tho I just finished washing/waxing the '87 MC LS today for the 3rd time this summer ... in preparation for winter, of course ... I think I'd rather get a "beater" to keep "Baby Blue" out of the winter mess just like my older 4 MCs. Course, it'll be a bit odd putting it away for the winter because it has been my most-reliable car through the winter months that I've owned since I had the '97 malibu for 2 years.
I'm interested in... * '87 or '88 MC LS (preferably with CL option) * '87 Cutlass Supreme * '82 or '83 Malibu * '86 or '87 El Camino * '76-'77 MC, Malibu, Cutlass Supreme, etc. Some rust is OK (winter beater, after all), but I'd prefer no rust holes. Body damage is also OK, but I'd prefer no "missing" parts.... MUST be a reliable car that has passed emissions. Price negotiable. I'd prefer to take delivery of the car after I get back from my road trip out west (AR-TX-OK-KS-MO-IA-WI) in October (Tuesday, the 17th). I'd also consider used late models... * '06 Dodge Charger * '04ish Chevrolet Classic * Oldsmobile Intrigue If you have something noted above, please advise me ... TIA! I was trying to sell my '00 mc LS to get a 4th gen MC LS when the '00 got flooded and totaled in 2003. Picked up the '87 MC LS a month or so later ... and have not regretted it for a minute. I only wish it didn't have to suffer through winter, since it had no rust on it when I bought it ... and, despite several winters, has very minimal rust still.... I want to stay RWD, which is why the older cars are on the list first.... Thanks, anyway, TAHOE! |

Re: WTB: winter beater
Too bad you hadnt said this sooner. I sold the 1984 Buick Park Avenue a few months ago. The rear bumper was rusted out but the rest of it was pretty good. The interior was like brand new. It was very reliable as far as starting in the winter.

Re: WTB: winter beater
If you dont mind FWD a friend always buys the late 1980's Olds Delta 88s or the Buick Lesabres though he is in the same mindset I am that FWD is better on snow than RWD.

Re: WTB: winter beater
Hmm....I might consider the '05/'06 Dodge Magnum, since that (more or less) is the wagon version of the Charger.
Will not consider an Impala, unless it is RWD, such as the '77-'79 editions with the "bubble" window . Course, I'd also consider an '87ish Caprice Classic..... ![]() |

Re: WTB: winter beater
Just look on E-Bay. That is if one dares buy something that way.
