Needing Radio

I am looking for a factory radio that will fit a 2001 Chevrolet 2500HD. I am looking for one with a CD player if possible. The one that I have has a tape player.

Re: Needing Radio

Since the C4C program ebay is awash in cheap, quality parts... I scored a complete head unit for my STS for around $30.

ebay is you friend.

One word of caution... since the introduction of ODBII many GM cars have the radio theft lock system built into the BCM and it will take a trip to the dealer to have them "Tech II" your car to "wake up" the new radio... Talk to your dealer first to make sure that they will help you install a "used" radio... many will not... and find out what, if any, paper work they will need to be comfortable the the replacement radio isn't stolen.

Expect to pay about 30-60 minutes of "door rate" (usually $100-$150 per hour) to have the dealer hook up the Tech II and reset the replacement radio.

Re: Needing Radio

2002 is CORRECT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think before 03 you need the code to unlock (if programmed from new).
A few GM truck forums have links to re-set the Theft-loc code on 02 and older Theft-loc units.
If you get one of these send me a pm and I can steer you to one
of those links that MAY work for you.

After 03 the radio is also tied to the vin#.

No matter what usually a visit to Mr Dealer and Tech 2 playtime is necessary!
And thats IF the dealer will want to mess with it............
