GMC Sierra Chrome Tailgate handle question

I wasn't 100% sure where to put this but....

My father has a 2002 GMC Sierra Z71 and he is looking for a chrome tailgate handle to replace the current black one for better contrast since his truck is black.

So far with our research, most of the handles are ABS chrome that install with 3M adhesive. Does this mean that you don't actually replace the handle but cover it? If so, how does it hold up? My father doesn't want to waste his time or money on somthing cheap or that won't last. So my question is, does anyone know of actual handle replacements? OR are all handles just covers that are installed through adheasive?

they have both- handle replacements and plastic covers. i opted for the plastic covers on my truck. i have them on all the handles and the mirrors. so far so good. ive had them all since my birthday (last november) and theyve all held up nicely, nothing has fallen off, and theyre easy to clean. theyre cheap too.
