Amazing to see the car length/passenger cabin ratio back then! Such a short wheel base for such a long car....LONG trunk and short passenger compartment. I'd forgotten about the "suicide" rear doors.

Nice car, but the 22" wheels probably caused suspension issues.

That's a drop-dead gorgeous car right there that your friend has, thanks for sharing the photos and all. The suicide doors are simply awesome.

Re: all original 1969 Lincoln Continental for sale...

I'd toss the wide whites, they really have no place on the car, and replace them with some repro "3-stripe" white walls which were all the rage when this car was new.

Its not a short wheelbase, it just looks short because of the overhangs, this a big car, with a big interior. Though this car is still shorter than a comparable 1969 Sedan deVille, though not by much, The new Continental from 1970 grew a whole bunch, but it lost the cool suicide doors. Shame of these cars was that Ford never bothered to make a real hardtop version, all the closed cars have that pillar in the middle, only the convertibles and the hardly ever seen coupe that came out in 66 are real hardtops.

The Animal House car was a 1964 Continenal, though it was supposed to be 1962 in the movie, this car represents the very tail end of the 1961 style Continental, though the wheelbase is longer and the whole car overall is bigger after the 1966 re-design of the Continenal.

They only show 2 stripes here, but they make a 3 stripe too.

OH! Ok ya, I have seen those. It's been a while, though.

Now that you mention it, the really wide white walls do look rather out of place on that car.

That's gorgeous!
When I saw that shot of the interior, I could smell the leather from here.

Obviously personal preference took priority over correctness, however the original tires are still present, and can be changed if so desired. He was well aware that these were not offered w/ such a tire. I personally fancy them!
