Wanna see the Astra?

Buy a car from me.

August 25th my store and our sister store will be having our 4th annual drive-in event. The Compuware arena in Plymouth,Michigan has drive-in movies during the summer, once a year our two stores get together and rent all three screens and hold this free event for our newest and long standing customers and it is a smash every time.

Prior to the movies starting we have games, prizes and fun things before the movies as it starts at 7 and the movies start at sun set (usually 10:00 pm) and we always have cars parked to show off. This year we contacted the Saturn Mobile Events Team and they said there is no reason why we will not have an Astra there for us to show off. I'm really excited about this as it will be the first time I get to see an Astra in person. I have no idea if it will be open for us to sit in or if it will just be on display. So if you are in the area, try to sneak a peek from the road unless you bought a Saturn from us recently, then you can come get some tickets.

FYI, we had an Aura last year prior to its official lunch/sale date.

Re: Wanna see the Astra?

Too bad I'm not there to experience it.

BTW, when will the Astra hit dealerships?

Re: Wanna see the Astra?

Late November is when the first few are supposed to start arriving but advertising of the Astra won't start until January.

Re: Wanna see the Astra?

I'd honsetly wish that the Astra came with a more powerful engine. I just have a feeling that the 1.8 is going to be a slug.

Re: Wanna see the Astra?

The 180 hp turbo I4 should be standard because GM is losing money on every Astra they sell to NA so they should just go all out.

Re: Wanna see the Astra?

The 1.8L is going to be fine. It makes 140HP, which is only 8 or so shy of the 2.2L I4 that the Cobalt has currently. The Opel version gets excellent gas mileage, far better that anything that GM currently has over here.

I can't wait to see one in person. I wish they would come sooner, because I can't wait until November to buy a car.

I have a 1.8L Matrix and its a dog. And I'm dead sure its lighter than what the Astra is.

Re: Wanna see the Astra?

My brother in law really wants to buy a Saturn Astra when it comes out. We were talking about it with my sister yesterday, and she said "But where is it made?" When we finally convinced her that it's coming from Belgium and not the US she sort of softened to the idea (because she likes the idea of it), but hates the idea of buying it if it's built in the US, alongside the Cobalt or something! I don't really know where this opinion comes from, but it's again another example of how hard the domestics have to work to get people to consider them! Still, looks like they might seriously consider the Astra now! Yay!

Re: Wanna see the Astra?

If there is a way (to let us future Saturn Astra owners) to sit in the car, I might make the 2 hr trip to Plymouth w/my wife. Going to IKEA afterwards, will justify the trip.......
