Saturn is paying attention.

In addition to the new console we have heard about and the new integrated interior next year, Saturn is showing they are paying attention.

Again, crappy cell phone pic. But check out the new grab handle. It should be noted I have a few 08 models on the lot without this feature, but it is on every Aura we have gotten in for the last week.

Pardon my ignorance but that looks like a shot of the trunk. Why do you need a grab handle in the trunk?

I like these constant improvements they're finally doing. We saw it with the Solstice and we keep seeing it. Minor tweaks. Even the Lambdas have been tweaked, with improved switch gear.

This truly shows an attention to detail long lacking at GM.

If I remember correctly, all the auto critics complained that they would get their hands dirty when closing the trunk on the Aura because it didn't have any grab handle to close it with. They apparently have fixed that now... Good Job GM!!!

Oh yeah, I do remember hearing that. I find that criticism ridiculous. I don't have a handle on my Accord's trunk, and I always just close it on the paint.

If your car is really that dirty that you would get filthy touching it to close the trunklid, it's time for a bath. Otherwise, stop whining!

But, kudos to Saturn for addressing a complaint!

What?! are you kidding me. I feel this kinda criticism is repulsive and I think the only reason why they knit picked about this is because they couldn't find anything else wrong with this car which was a first for GM and their biggest critics respectively. I'm glad GM and Saturn are listening though and are doing things better than some of their fiercest competition.

I don't get it. Don't you still need to touch the trunk lid at some point? How can you close it entirely with only the grab handle?

Re: Saturn is paying attention.

Swing it down with the grab handle hard/fast enough and momentum should do the rest.

Re: Saturn is paying attention.

Maybe the trunk lid is more dampened than in my Altima. I know if the Altima had a grab handle and I pulled it, it would be difficult to move my hand quick enough.

ps-If this is just for short people, that's cool too.

Re: Saturn is paying attention.

Awesome, great to see what I've heard from GM being put into action. Just wondering, have you personally heard anything from Saturn on the integrated center stack?

Re: Saturn is paying attention.

Part of the problem also is that the Aura has a large chrome molding on the bottom edge of the decklid, the most obvious place to grab when closing it. It always ends up with very noticeable finger prints - unpleasant for those of us who like a clean car

You do, but now the magazines can't complain about it lacking a grab handle.

The less they have to nitpick, the better right?

Re: Saturn is paying attention.

Grab handles like that never properly work to shut a trunk (as some of you have pointed out). I'm glad that GM is paying attention to what people want... but they really don't work to fully close the trunk.
