Post Saturn to Bring Back the Qaud Coupe Doors?

Once again I hope this is not a repost. But heres what the sources from saturnfans.com have to report on Saturn's future product possibilities.

Saturn to Bring Back Innovative 'Quad Coupe' Doors
SaturnFans.com • September 13, 2007

Opel's marketing chief says Saturn's quad coupe doors will return to production. A couple of days ago General Motors' Opel brand unveiled a new hybrid concept – called the Flextreme – at the 2007 International Motor Show in Frankfurt. Multiple sources who reported from the show wrote that Saturn is expected to unveil a near-identical version of this concept at either the upcoming Los Angeles or Detroit auto shows.

Opel marketing chief Alain Visser added to the speculation and confirmed another rumor when he spoke to the Detroit Free Press in an article published Wednesday. "The Flextreme concept car also hints at the look of future Opel and Saturn production models. GM will build a
vehicle with the concept's innovative 90-degree-opening doors," the newspaper reported Visser as saying.

Such a move would not only bring Saturn's unique and popular 'quad-coupe' style doors back into production, but it would be yet another illustration that the Saturn-Opel relationship is indeed a two-way collaboration. GM has aligned and directed the brands to work together on developing new models for future production on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

Re: Saturn to Bring Back the Qaud Coupe Doors?

So I guess this means it is possible Saturn will get a version of the Opel Flextreme concept. This is good to hear as the Flextreme IMO is more appealing to look at than the Volt. I think it would be so cool if the production version Flex had suicide doors like the concept. I'm glad GM is continuing their momentum of product development an alternative fuel research.

true suicides are different than the quad doors. if they were true suicide doors theyd be pretty sweet. i wish my truck had them, the quad doors can be a little annoying sometimes in tight spaces since they only open 90 degrees.

The Flextreme concept was a neat creation, but it's no quad coupe or RX-8. It would make a nice Corsa or Meriva though.

I'd love to see Calibra back with quad doors - though I believe Buick should be first to get an Epsilon coupe.

Re: Saturn to Bring Back the Qaud Coupe Doors?

I just Googled the Flextreme and saw pictures for the first time. I'm having trouble getting an idea on the size of this vehicle, though. Does it compare to say, the Prius? Or a bit bigger? Either way, I think it would be great if they could get this out in a few years along with the Volt.

I don't believe that these suicide doors will come and evolve to sedan/coupe forms. It just doesn't seem right, and won't really fit into Saturn's lineup. I believe they will use it more as a crossover tool, to make everything more versatile (think Honda Element, but 3 times less stupid).

I'd rather just have sedans, coupes, and hatches. They seem to be more popular.

Re: Saturn to Bring Back the Qaud Coupe Doors?

I love Quad doors. I almost got a redline just because I love those doors....just for that reason. It is also one of the reasons I like the RX8. I say bring them back yesterday!
