Newsday-Astra to be imported for Saturn

It appears to have moved from a rumor to a plan. According to an article in Newsday today Saturn will import the Astra in 2007. It will retain the name and be priced from $16,000. Saturn expects sales of 20,000-40,000 per year.
Now, the ION sells a little over 100,000 per year and starts at a price of about $13,000.
So, what is Saturn going to do about the lower price range? Are they just going to give up all those sales? Doesn't it make sense to keep making the ION or at least build a Cobalt clone and keep the ION name?

ION-Astra-Aura

Makes sense to me, but they have to keep the ION as a entry point model.
