I saw a new outlook yesterday

And at first glance I thought that is a nice looking crossover. When I got to looking a little closer I though that the front passengers door was not shut all the way and when I got a little closer I saw that the sheetmetal was misaligned. I don't mean the door was out of adjustment I'm saying that the door shell was badly formed. The top of the door was flush with the rear door however from that point down it bowed out to the point that it looked like the door wasn't shut when it was. I was disappointed when I saw that as it reminded me that gm still has a long way to go in the qc department.

Why jump to assumptions? Maybe it had been wrecked....or in some kind of accident.

I've seen several Outlooks, and none of them exhibit what you describe.

Re: I saw a new outlook yesterday

I'm with nsap. Even if you want to take Saturn and include all of GM's brands, to all of the GM dealers I've been to in the last while, I haven't seen and of what you describe. I'm thinking the damage occured after purchase, because it being as you described, I can't see a buyer plunking 30-45k down for an even slightly damaged vehicle.

Most of the outlooks I've seen have been flawless, and they're great looking vehicles.

If GM would engineer their vehicles better they wouldn't get into accidents.

I see more Acadias and Enclaves driving than Outlooks. They all look clean and new when I see them.

Re: I saw a new outlook yesterday

Some of the tightest gaps I have seen from GM are on the Lambdas.. something was wrong with this particular vehicle you saw.

One vehicle and you're saying GM has a long way to go in the Quality Control department? I've taken inspection of several Lambdas, and there's been nothing like this. I walked away impressed by the build quality inside and out.

Re: I saw a new outlook yesterday

I want to see pictures of this and proof it wasn't in an accident. That's one of the things GM has really improved on is the panel gaps. I really doubt this claim.

Re: I saw a new outlook yesterday

Well if I'd had my camera I'd have taken a pic plus I'd send it straight to gm so they could see for themselves. It was pathetic and I can't believe that the buyer and the dealer didnt' catch it in the presale inspection. You can deny it all you want but somewhere in Jax is a rolling advertisement for Japanese automakers and it wears saturn badging.

Re: I saw a new outlook yesterday

I've seen loads on the road now and the gaps are fine.

It sounds like that prior tale of Cobalts with poorly aligned hoods and yet I never saw that individual come forward with the "proof" he claimed.

If it was bowed out, it sounds like it was backed into and the door is out of alignment.

Simplest solution for you is to go to a few Saturn dealers and look at the Outlooks. If they're all aligned then you'll know something happened to this guy's car, plain and simple. Since I'm in the market for an Outlook and I've been at the dealer's numerous times I can say not a one has been misaligned, and I've looked at all the ones on the lot. I think there's a very good reason that door is misaligned if true, and post purchase damage sounds most likely.

Re: I saw a new outlook yesterday

My Silverado has this problem now, but it wasn't from the factory. When I went on a trip to NY, I stopped for gas in MD. I went in to get a drink and accidentally locked the keys in it. The wrecker that came and unlocked it kinda bowed the passenger front door out a bit when he pried it out to slip his tool in there. It sucks, I hate it, but I was alot happier to be on the road than in bum-funk egypt. I bet a similar thing happened to this owner. My next vehicle definitely will have Onstar!

more than likely onstar would have unlocked the car for him if that was the case
