Ask me anything about the Astra

But do it quick, and only ask me questions that I can answer by physically looking at the car.

Saturn of Windsor got their "demo" Astra for the staff to check out. They don't have it for long of course, and tomorrow (Saturday December 22nd 2007) I'll have a couple of hours to have my way with the car. I'll have digital camera of course, so if there's anything you want to see up close, ask me now, I'll make sure I get it. I'll be going around 9 or 10am EST.

What's the quality of the switch gear on the center stack?

Re: Ask me anything about the Astra

Well I have driven it and I can honestly state that the center stack is of very high quality as is all of the interior. The blade key is very nice and is very close to that of the one Mazda uses but just a touch better. Anyway I can not wait for your pics get some nice wide outside shots.

Re: Ask me anything about the Astra

All I want to know is WHEN IS MINE FINALLY GOING TO ARRIVE!! but I dont think you can help me out much there. One thing I am interested in know is how flat do the back seat fold when they are down. Is it fully flat with the trunk or is there some angle. And pics of stuff on the car would be nice, like the dash lit up in a darker environment, oh ya and the key.

Re: Ask me anything about the Astra

I know it's more of a wondering instead of a question but is there going to be any more variations of the Astra coming from Opel in the future?

ei. American redline version, twin top convertible, panoramic windsheild, diesel?

i know i heard them all to be possibly no's, but i'm still curious.

Re: Ask me anything about the Astra

The key is very similar to the VW key. That same soft rubber texture, with the same opperation of pushing the button to get the key.
The "lock and unlock" buttons are a little goofy though...
The unlock one are two lines, one is horizontal while the top line is angled up to the right just a bit...sorta like this

\| <---only turn that 90* to the right

To lock it, both lines are parallel
|| <----turn it 90* to right

I thought that was odd. Oh, and if you hold down the lock button or unlock button, the windows will go up or down respectivly. THAT was cool VW-esque feature.

The key was nice. I even took a video, I'll see if I cen get it up on YouTube. The pics on the buttons were wierd, though and I wish I woulda known about the feature wuth the window. Also, as long as the keys are inside the vehcle (not necesarily in the ignition) you can use the radio

I will follow up with pics and the rest of my findings shortly.

Re: Ask me anything about the Astra

Ok, sorry, I don't have time to talk about everything right now, but I will later today. The pics are up at SaturnFans, and I'm pretty sure everyone should be able to see the pics there in my Gallery. I will make one revelation, it has 5 cupholders, so quit, your bitching.

Re: Ask me anything about the Astra

I think two in the doors, one in the center, and two in the rear seat cushion.
