Another Saturn Vue review

Hope it's not a repost. It has some minor errors also (4 cylinder displacement and HP on the V6)

DAMASCUS, Md. (MarketWatch) -- General Motors has taken the Saturn Vue further up the mountain and -- wow! -- has the Vue changed for the better.

You need not look any further than the new interior to see that the General is going after Honda and Toyota, using more of the weapons in its inventory.
With some soft-to-the-touch surfaces, a simple control panel, easy-to-read gauges, and a nice blending of cheerful colors, the latest Vue will leave first-time viewers with the idea that it costs a lot more than it does.

The EPA rates this combination at 16 to 23 miles per gallon. We got 18 in mostly country driving.

Even with the optional Navi system, the center stack is (thank you GM) devoid of the thousand and one buttons used by its competitors, like the Acura.
But everyone loves buttons!!!

I'm spending the weekend with a Redline Vue right now. I had to take it to an event yesterday, so I decided to just keep it. I'm trying to keep the miles off of it as someone will want to purchase it this week, but I have logged a hundred already.

It's black on black and very solid. Only one option (convenience; Rainsense wipers, remote start, heated windshield washer fluid) and so far I am pretty happy with it. I'll have a nice review sometime soon.

I just don't like the look of the new VUE, it looks so whimpy CR-Vish now. Based on that alone I won't buy. I guess if GM is trying to attract import lovers, it might work. The Equinox SS with the 3.6L would be much preferred in books.

Re: Another Saturn Vue review

GM needs to improve gas milage on it. That just too low for a small SUV. This is my only complaint about the new Vue. Other than that, it's a sweet ride!

Re: Another Saturn Vue review

I'm finally starting more and more popl up and I have warmed up to them. I easily recognize them in traffic. I'm seeing a lot of White XR's. It looks pretty good, but I hope Saturn will offer two tone color comibinations on the XR like the Antara. I know the XE gets the cheap plastic bottom, but it would be cool to get an XR and have that one color..and the top another.

I've been seeing quite a few of them myself and I really like how they look. I haven't taken the time to see one up close however. I also wish they would improve the gas mileage. GM seems to be making some awfully heavy vehicles lately, like many manufactures. Hopefully they can afford to bring the weight down in the future. I like what they did to the hybrid Tahoe with the aluminum hood and rear hatch. Hopefully they do things like that on more vehicles.

18 mpg doesn't cut it, not even close! My last 4 fill ups in my on '06 V6 Vue:

70% city, 30% hwy: 20.03 mpg
20% city, 80% hwy: 26.32 mpg
5% city, 95% hwy: 26.58 mpg (avg 71 mph on hwy)
1% city, 99% hwy: 31.08 mpg (avg 72 mph on hwy)

These numbers were with 2 adults, 2 kids and luggage/toys/god knows what. By the looks of it, the '08 will never reach anything near those numbers.

I think it does come close.. remember, 08 fuel economy is different than 07. This weekend in an 08 proves it to me, I have 185 miles on the car on it's first tank of gas and I have almost hit the half full mark. Thats over twenty miles a gallon in city/hwy mix. I won't complain about the fuel economy in it, it could be better, but is just fine for a vehicle of its size.

Oh my... I hope you're not figuring out your mileage by the fuel gague? As with all GMs I've owned in the past, that little needle tends to drop faster during the bottom half of the tank when compared to the top half.

And how does '08 fuel economy differ than '07? The author states that his recorded mileage was 18mpg. I know the EPA is changing their reporting methods, but this doesn't change the fact that he got 18mpg. This is probably what others are also going to get.

Re: Another Saturn Vue review

I turned in the car this morning with 275 miles on it. I stopped and filled up across the street before bringing it in and put in approximatly 13.4 gallons. That is over 20 mpg.

I've never had a problem with gauges before. So I'll go by my experience.
