No, there has only been spin vague enough to imply & mislead. So once again, my purpose (as clearly stated on my homepage for years) is: "To significantly reduce emissions & consumption in a reliable & cost-effective manner." Any technology meeting that criteria is welcome.

For this discussion topic, that means Volt by around 2015. When rollout begins in 2010, it will indeed significantly reduce emissions & consumption and should be reliable. Being cost-effective will require additional time though, but it is realistic given continued battery advancements.

Then why have you been trying to imply and mislead with spin?

And you're right about the SERIES hybrid finally making it to market too. It will indeed. But how long until that "nicely below $30,000" goal will be achieved?

The point is, the 2011 Volt will be quite different from that original concept. Change happens.
So you admit that the Volta was vaporwire, yes?

Because unless I'm wrong, the ls 600h is "quite different from that original concept."

Sure. GM's "coming soon" PR machine has has never failed to produce revolutionary products in the automotive industry. Just like the new Malibu.

Give up on him. Despite all his bluster, he is only interested in hybrids that carry the "Toyota" name.

That's a sad attempt to discredit, especially considering what the market need is right now.

ESCAPE is a small SUV offering a FULL hybrid system using a 4-cylinder engine which meets all the purpose criteria. It's a Ford and I support it.

FUSION is planned to compete directly with the hybrid Camry, which means a FULL hybrid system using a 4-cylinder engine. Same situation... and it's not a Toyota either.

Someday when GM does the same, that vehicle will get a nod too.

That's so weird... because when people bash the Escape over on the Prius forums for not being as good as the highlander, you never step up to defend it. And since it has better emissions and better mileage than the highlander, you'd think you'd be the first in there to defend it.

So here's your shot... just tell us all that the Escape is the better vehicle... that you'd, without reservations, recommend it over the Highlander.

Go over to the GM-Volt site and see if he is registered.

Escape-Hybrid = 2 rows of seating and 1,000 pound towing capacity

Highlander-Hybrid = 3 rows of seating and 3,500 pound towing capacity

Since there is only one choice available in each category, that "better" question is obviously a trap.

Sorry, you can't play that game, because then the Two-Mode hybrids would easily trump the Highlander.

However, if we were to stick to your 'goal' of reducing emissions and consumption, the Escape would be the better choice in SUVs, would it not?

However, the Escape Hybrid is "better for the environment" and achieves better fuel economy.

Therefore, in your view, it MUST the superior car. Correct?
