Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
How ironic that one of the first viewings of a real live Volt that was pic'd and touched by the general public was reported over on ...... Priuschat.
Here: http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-hy...took-pics.html You can sense where the marketing is being directed. |

Re: Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
Wow it looks to be a quite sizable car...I was surprised by the seeming sheer mass of the front end.

Re: Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
Anybody notice this is a different grille than the other pics we've seen? More like the concept grille.

Lmao! That would actually make for a cool ad if they were to make a sort of "badass" Pontiac version.

I don't get why everyone was ragging on the looks... I think that it actually looks really really nice, even ignoring the super-ciool drivetrain.

Re: Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
It is a Toyota forum, I'm sure folks from another forum who came here might think the same.
I do think there's a lot of gnashing of teeth re: the Volt in the Prius forums I've read. Up until GM showed the production model everyone believed it'd never happen. Now, most people wonder if there's anything that might actually halt its arrival. Plus, even on the linked to thread, folks realize the Volt is better looking inside and out and is more technologically advanced. It seems to cause them serious problems to admit it, but they know, deep down, the car is better looking, better proportioned, and has a better overall appearance inside and out. Comparing the spy shots of the 2010 Prius' interior with the Volt's is funny since there is no comparison. The Prius' interior is better than the current Prius' interior but well behind the Volt's new interior. And as we've seen from exterior spy shots, the Prius will still have that ungainly appearance. The comment that the seats look "plasticky" is laughable, especially since the seats are leather. Perhaps Prius owners have difficulty telling leather and plastic apart, what being smothered in smugness for so long. Can the Prius even be ordered with leather seats? I don't think it can as I've never seen one with leather. |

Re: Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
Al Gore and Peta probably won't allow leather in the Prius!

Re: Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
Yeah it is quite a bit bigger than I expected, but that helps the presence. I really hope that black plastic thing under the belt line will look better in person, but otherwise looks pretty cool!

Re: Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
I think they HAD to do the faux grille for a couple of reasons.....sedans or luxury (vs. sports) cars with a grill-less snout are often rejected by the public who associate a prominent grille with power and prowess. But the Volt not only does not need a grille since it is a bottom breather for better aerodynamics, a true grille would hurt mileage by increasing drag. I applaud Chevy for the evolution of the concept to the production car that may prove to be a game changer. Bummer that the buying public rejects covered wheel wells or the mileage would be even better.

Re: Volt - in captivity ... touched and pic'd
I really like the front-end. It looks like it's deep but it also looks like there might be some type of plexiglass or lexan blocking air coming into the grill making it more aerodynamic. Kinda hard to tell from the pics.
Sure will be nice when there is a dedicated Volt forum.
