VIDEO: 08 Cobalt SS Turbo Launch Control Demo
http://youtube.com/watch?v=el8_PMf0Zak
Bouncing of the reduced rev at 5100 RPM in the launch control mode. Took this video when we got to play with the new 08 SS earlier this month. See original thread here. Enjoy |

Re: VIDEO: 08 Cobalt SS Turbo Launch Control Demo
This is the 260 horse turbo ecotech, right?
I know it's not fair to compare a V8 to an I4, but comparing that launch to a LT1 Camaro (275 horse) and watching the torque and wheel spin involved ... and I'll say give me the V8 anyday. Also got 28 mpg highway. Don't mis-understand ... I'm not trash talking. I just think it's sad that we're getting so excited about a I4 that puts out less HP and also get's worse gas mileage. |

Re: VIDEO: 08 Cobalt SS Turbo Launch Control Demo
Well, I think that we are also comparing real world gas milage vs EPA numbers. I belive that if you take the LT1 Fbody EPA numbers, convert them to current standards, you will see that the Cobalt SS will have a better numbers. Now, if you keep your Camaro in 6th, on highway speeds, Im sure that it would be easy to get 30mpg. BUT, if you were to drive agressivly every day, Im sure that number would dip into the teens.
Id say same with the Cobalt SS. Daily Driver duties will probably net it 30mpg.

But, I was not impressed with those launches in the video. They just looked weak. ![]()

Re: VIDEO: 08 Cobalt SS Turbo Launch Control Demo
I was thinking the same thing. The car seemed to fall on its face even when launched control was used and it truly didn't seem that impressive. Maybe it was just the video but it didn't seem all that quick.

Re: VIDEO: 08 Cobalt SS Turbo Launch Control Demo
hehehe, the car let out a little fart 15 seconds into the video
![]() Other than that, nice car, exhuast sounds goood, except for the one part. Anyway, how well built are these turbo engines? Has anyone reported any problems or part fatigue in these engines?
