We still have a few years ahead of us until General Motors pulls the wraps off its next generation Chevrolet Camaro that will go head-to-head with the new Mustang currently being prepared by Ford for launch in 2014, something that gives design students the opportunity to dream up their own vision of the car.
Arkadiy Okhman, a software engineer who decided to go back to school to become an automobile designer, and who is currently a student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, came up with this, rather overly futuristic, proposal for a next generation Camaro.

While not many details have been provided about the project by Okhman, it looks like he went for a more compact size coupe, but with a more muscular appearance that doesn't borrow a lot of (if any) styling cues from the previous Camaro models.

We will assume these renderings were created as a first stage of the project, with the artist introducing more production elements to the car, as the design would progress.

I really don't like designs like this. They are so absurdly impractical it's a waste of everyone's time. You can pursue design ideas on cars that have some basis in reality and practicality.

In the fashion industry, they use super thin models, but at least they are human and not some abstraction of a human form.

I agree. Plus I see a ton of styling cues from the current generation (even though the article says there isn't). Kind of looks like they said, "lets take the current model and make it totally impractice with two inch windows, etc.".

I have to agree with that sentiment that such extreme design styling is useless other than for the most vague of directions. It's bad enough when designers have to tone down their concept cars for production; but why set yourself up for even greater disappointment by having to tone it down from such an unrealistic starting point...

As usual, the drawings look stretched and flattened to accent the smooth design and air flow. In this case the direct side view looks more realistic, practical and very do-able. From that angle, I like it very much.

The wraps better come off in a few years...it's supposed to be ON SALE at this point in 2015.

For those hating...this is the sketch that turned into the current Camaro:

I think this one looks pretty good, if you take away the garnish.

If only the design featured larger wheels with a lower and wider stance.

Pontiac Rageous. Actually this is the same guy that drew the I-96 shooter sketch.
