Re: My Ideal Chevy Lineup (2nd Ed.) - Ready for comments!
Too many cars, trucks and SUVs. Everyone here wants to keep all or most of GM's brands. So, time to cut away a few models and get Chevy back to it's sporty roots.

Re: My Ideal Chevy Lineup (2nd Ed.) - Ready for comments!
Ive got a few complaints, first off the aveo, as an ex chevy tech, i can attest that we all hated that daewoo. it should be dropped. replace it with a bargan basement stripped cobalt or something, but get rid of it. the cobalt gets similar gas mileage in a larger safer vehicle anyway.
also, i noticed you listed an option for the IROC, a DVD infotainment center??? say it aint so, the IROC was a street version of a race car, if its gonna be called that, make it what it was. Also, the IROC wasnt a drag car, it was a handling car, so give it beefy anti roll bars and a great suspension with great power. and i think it should be called the Z28, unless its used in IROC racing again, the two cars were basically the same thing anyway and the Z28 has alot more heritage to it. With the trucks i would add something else, a jeep fighter. GM has chosen to make every truck in its lineup a cushy loaded fully optioned technology center. hell when i decided to buy a 4x4 for moving to the mountains for school, i imediatly blew off the new trucks (although i love the LS engines or duramax and allison trans) in favor of finding an older K5 Blazer from the early 70's. I think they are loosing major sales for that reason. A smaller SUV on the order of a Jeep Wrangler, with a convertable top (K5 blazer anyone), hummer style geared hubs, and the I5 3500 would be a great addition to the lineup, maybe include a GPS system and onstar as options for those that really wanted them. I think that GM has really shot itself in the foot with all these high technology gizmos for cars and trucks. makes them more expensive to make, and more costly to buy, a two fold hit in profits because people go to other companys that dont hit the wallet as hard. I mean honestly, some silverado pickups are going for 50k, thats absurd. a short bed silverado with the Z71 suspension, decent radio, 6.6L turbodiesl and allison tranny, with cloth interior and such, and stripped of all its techno goodies for 25k-35k, would certainly do much to help GMs profits. It just seems to me they need to simplify. |

Re: My Ideal Chevy Lineup (2nd Ed.) - Update 2
Updated a bit... Aveo is still there but all-new... not an update of the current one. After all, Chevy needs something that'll fit peoples tastes should they be wanting a basic mode of transportation that's inexpensive and very fuel-efficient... (note I said new engines)

![]() Impala Same car as the Chevy SS concept with a couple changes to be able to offer it at a competitive price and production rate. Priced from around $24,000-$34,000. Only V-8 is offered, no V-6. Very comfortable car, luxurious, stylish car. Plenty of power to back up its aggressive looks and stance. SS gets an LS2 V8 engine, having 450 hp. Offered in coupe (normal and convertible) as well as sedan. I would disagree with the Impala being offered as a coupe let alone a convertible. Would this remain as a FWD? Or would the drive be changed to RWD so that the 450hp optional engine could be better fitted? why eliminate the V6 offering?

And I said no V6 because of the Bel Air offering V6 and V8... and having the Dégagé having I4 and V6, why have 3 cars w/ V6 between midsize and full-size/large?(And just for clarification... Dégagé would be an Accord/Camry competitor... Bel Air a 300 competitor, and the Impala would be... well, a sporty, stylish, full-sizer larger than that of the Bel Air/300... then again, I could take out the Bel Air and offer a powerful V6... meh... it'd still be larger than the 300...)

Re: My Ideal Chevy Lineup (2nd Ed.) - Update 4
camaro wont be priced at $15,000. thats just too low seeing as the last one started at around $18,000. it will probably be around $20,000 for the base. plus camaro and corvette should never get the "LS" trim level. otherwise its pretty good.

Re: My Ideal Chevy Lineup (2nd Ed.) - Update 4
It's only 3 and a half (the half because the Blazer would be a 2-door, beefed up Tahoe) new models... actually, make that 4 and a half because the Astro returned...
