$20k for base model ? I thought it will start somewhere 16 - 17k.

Still wondering, I always hear GM saying high dollar value make Canadian auto manufacturing world's most expensive but i don't see reflections of that when it comes to pricing of GM cars. Volt lease is $808 per month in Canada.

The price is actually not too bad. A loaded LTZ with sunroof is $30,000 including destination charge. In Sept 2005, my brand new, loaded HHR was just over $28,000. The price of the Trax seems about right. AWD is almost $2,000 more.

If I were to consider a Trax AWD I think it would be a really tight competition between that and the new Subaru XV Crosstrek.

The key is CAD was only .80 of USD in 2005, Now its almost 1:1 , say the 28000 you spend is now worth $5600 + $28000.

We have also had annual inflation rates of ~2% since 2005 (excluding 2009.) That accounts for some of the price increase.

I wish this CUV would make it to the USA. This would take sales form competitors like Kia soul and others. GM really needs this CUV in USA like badly, and no it will not take sales from the Equinox. Equinox starts at $24,000, the trax will start $17,000/$18,000.

Just comparing the Encore Vs. the Trax, the Encore should have been Chevy while the Trax should have been a GMC.
