Are you using factory gas cap or a locking one?

    Re: check gas cap

Did the message ever reset or go off since the new cap was installed or has this message been constant since putting on the new cap? If it has been on and still on after the new cap how many miles have you driven? I noticed another thread with information about similar problems.. Hopefully that provides better insight..

It can take some time for the PCM to run the evap test depending on conditions.
Hopefully the cap will take care of it but most evap faults are not the cap. Usually a failed vent/purge solenoid or vacuum leak.

Disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes, that usually clears all the codes.
