Find a post where I say I don't like muscle cars. I like them fine. I love the concept behind them. I just don't buy into the whole "if Chevy makes a muscle car, it has to be called a Camaro or its the end of the world" thing.

Also, the point of my signature was to promote muscle, Pontiac, and the GTO. Why was Jack ragging on it?

Especially with all the camaro fans calling for its return, Its not only on this site recently. Ive been hearing it from EVERYWHERE!!!!

Re: CAMARO! - The Massive Never-Ending Discussion Thread

ActionJack: Perhaps the hp difference has to do with the IRS in the Vette? From what I've read, the LS1's in the Vette and F-bodies were identical save a different cam in the Camaro that favored more low end power.

Here's another discussion starter: I've read rumors that some F-bodies remained unsold up in Canada. Can anyone solidly confirm or disprove this? If it's true, would someone like to loan me maybe $20,000?

Re: CAMARO! - The Massive Never-Ending Discussion Thread

I'm just wondering how much would WS6 be as I need something to piss off the ricers at college? And BTW what is the difference between a WS6 Trans AM and the I think its called firehawk. Anyhow bring back the mullet mobile for I am sad that it is gone and driving up the price of used ones.

I am no dyno expert but I do not think the Vette would lose that much. Typically, it is accepted that a manual transmission will see 12 to 15 percent drive train loss and an Automatic will see 18 to 20 percent drive train loss. That is also assuming they are SAE corrected as well.

Many beleive the under rated HP in the F-Bodies so that GM could quanitify further the added costs for a Corvette versus a F-Body.

As to the F-Bodies still unsold... I would not be surprised but I do not think so.

There is an article that shows the last F-Body off the line to be produced and if I can dig it up then I will post it and it may have something about unsold F-Bodies that GM may still be holding???

January 2006 we will know and I bet we will have a V8 Chevy RWD and it will be a Camaro by MY 2007 (the very latest MY 2008).

Wanna bet???

In one of my previous posts I have the options.

SLP did the Firehawk and ASC did the WS6. The Firehawk with SLP long tubes and different hood did something like 20 HP more than a WS6. Also, you could get the 1LE package with Firehawk.

The 1LE pretty much gave a F-Body that could handle 0.90 G on the skidpad while the WS6 did like a 0.88 G on the skidpad. Many do not realize the ability the last Gen had at the Road Track and Auto X.

WS6 gave revalved schocks and a bigger front sway bar and stiff bushings. It also came with the Ram Air which has a air lid that sits an inch taller and the ram air hood is functional. Also the WS6 gave a power steering cooler and larger rims (17x9.5) with higher speed rated tires for max speed of 162 mph (speed limited).

There is more. But, look back at some of the previous information.

I wasn't ragging on your Sig.

However, I was expecting some bash from you. I know you have no love for the Camaro or Firebird. I suspect you are very Pro GM and most anything they decide.

I also believe you to be a fan of the GTO and that you dislike the retro of the Mustang and disliked the style of Firebirds and their pop up lights.

As much as some are sick of F-Body fans still harping on the popularity of the Camaro and wanting it back, I am as sick of those that keep asking what is wrong with the GTO and trying to push it on those of us that have no interest in this style of car.

My remark was state In This Thread that the GTO is in no way a replacement for the Firebird or Camaro and even to this day on a 80s platform the 4th Gen F-Bodies still hold their own with vehicles of today such as:

Audi S4, BMW M3, GTO, Mustang GT, Mustang Mach 1, Corvette C6 and C5, and more.

And i would add that the return of the Camaro need not have a 350 HP car. Especially since cars today are offering much more HP for less $$$.

There is no reason that GM could not offer the new Camaro with a LS2 and 400 HP. Also, GM has been working on a blown Vette and I am sure they can claim more than 400 HP for the Vette by the time the Camaro arrives.

Food for thought anyhow.

What year? What options? Any Mods?

The Firehawk is a great car and if it is a 98+ the price is unbelievably low.

Or is it an LT1 (93 to 97)?

I am interested, let me know...

I'm not sure if there are still any to this day but last summer and during last winter there were a few that were unsold. Many of them were the 2002 Collectors edition Trans Ams, they were going for $43K-$50k. There were also a few special edition Camaro SS that were selling at arround $38k. These days I don't see them any more so I'm guessing they are all sold out. Here in Montreal, a fully loaded black 2002 Trans Am with a 6 speed goes for arround $26k (and thats a fast sale).

All the prices are in Canadian $.

Re: CAMARO! - The Massive Never-Ending Discussion Thread

Wow, thanks for the insane detail in your answers!

Here's another question - aside from cosmetics, what set the 2002 "Special Edition" Camaro apart from 2002 "Special Edition" Pontiac Trans Am?
