Is it possible to make my 2003 monte carlo ss limited edition a manual? And by possible I do not mean, yes anything is possible, if you have 5,000 years and millions of dollars, I mean is it logically, and sensibly, possible? Thank you.

I've wondered this myself. Personally, I think it could be done (they are machines after all and you can take machines apart and rebuilt them). But no doubt it would be extremely expensive if it can be done at all
Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.
The 1997 Grand Prix GTP had the option of a 5 speed manual. It was a Getrag 284 which was manufactured by Muncie, low volume and a short run means your work is cut out to find one and they never came on a 3800 engine. Your other issue will be to build your own clutch pedal, but all the parts are out there you just need to find them.

Of course it won't take 5,000 years or millions of dollars.
More like five years and $5,000 or one year and $10,000.

Would it be the most expensive, frustrating, and time consuming project you have ever taken on in your life only to find that you haven't gained but a couple of tenths in e.t. and the only available shifter sucks? More than likely.

Every model year this gets more and more impossible. The on board computers are so integrated with electronic transmissions and air/fuel sensors since the OBD II era began.

May be it is possible to make it manual, but it will be really an expensive one.

How did we get from an era when people put 1950's Oldsmobile engines in 1920's Fords to this point where people say you can't put a manual shift in a Chevy? Of course you can...

Yeah but that isn't hard to do. If you have discrete ECM and TCM then it is obvious. If you have integrated PCM just do some programming or simulation. Computers aren't magic...
I mean really for a PCM for example, it wants to control trans and tell engine to cut spark and such when shifting. Just change to ignore trans and never cut spark. You could probably just leave it unplugged and take out the "check gearbox" light
Or, if not handy with hacking the machine, go clean-slate and design a custom engine control system, maybe using an off-shelf unit like Megasquirt and the original GM sensors / injectors and the like. That's really easy and you can tune the engine infinitely as well. Computers make tuning easier not harder!

One might be better off transplanting a 3.9/6m combo out of an '06 G6 GTP...
