    2014 Chevrolet Spark CVT

I was perusing the Online Order Guide for the 2014 Spark and the automatic 4-speed transmission has been replaced with a CVT for 2014.

Also, the Jalapeno exterior paint has been deleted, but...whatever.

    Any thoughts?

I would consider this a good thing for the what the car is, a city car. Also changing the final drive gear from 4.14 to 3.75 should help hwy mileage, maybe, but most of all hwy engine noise.

CVT has got to help this car. Also 70 series tires on some models would improve ride to some degree.

Jalapeno is gone but replaced by Lime. The EV gets a more limited color choice.

That four speed auto is horrible. I drove the one they had out for test drives at the Denver Auto Show. Between the size and the color, it was pretty much the subject of bullying by other motorists pretty much from the second I pulled out of the parking lot. Mashing the throttle yielded little more than noise, thanx to the power robbing of the slushbox.

When I drove the Spark and Sonic back to back, I found the Spark's transmission better than the Sonic's, which kept shifting all the time. 4 speeds aren't enough, but at least it shifted better. A CVT may be the best compromise for gearing, shifting and noise.

I thought the general consensus was that CVTs aren't that great. What would make it a proper fit for the Spark?

    Any thoughts?

Really, really, matters which one and just as much or more, from whom.

Then, how they set it up.

Anybody but A-AW basically has a unit that could come out 'ok'.....or better.

Does anyone knows who will produce that CVT for the Spark? Is it made in South Korea, too?
