Re: Will The Ford Falcon & Territory Live On?
Ford should buy VE bodies off Holden and fit Falcon styled front and rear ends on it and fit their own interiors and engines. Most people would not notice the difference, as they are almost identical now.
That way Holden ups the volume of VE and makes money on each Falcon sold and Ford gets the modern body and suspension they need. Combined they would sell more that if Falcon fell over and VE had the market to itself as Ford would import or assemble Taurus. ![]() |

Oh, and here is where that info is gleamed from: http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...25759A00079782. Check paragraph 3. Note that it says that they will share platforms. As of now, that would be a FWD chassis. The Falcon only has one saving grace. Ford will have to plan on a global RWD chassis (GRWD) for the next Falcon. Needless to say that Ford will want at least one US model to share it with. Would that be Mustang, Taurus, or preferably, both. |

Re: Will The Ford Falcon & Territory Live On?
If the Falcon ceases to be a large RWD car that could be a potential boon for Holden as they would be the only player left in the market.
I still can't see the Taurus faring well in Australia as a replacement for the Falcon though. The Mondeo with a V6, sure. |

Ford hasn't stated anything conclusive about falcons RWD future, it's still being made and will be made for the next 4 years, thats what matters. |

Re: Will The Ford Falcon & Territory Live On?
If they could somehow fit the 3.7L V6 and/or the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 in it, they could bring it to the U.S. as a Mercury Marquis or Montego. This would give Mercury a niche type sedan to slot above the Milan since it won't have one now that the Sable is gone and the Grand Marquis is disappearing soon as well. It could maybe pick up customers who were disappointed in GM's decision to discontinue the Pontiac G8. I think it looks modern enough; it certainly looks more modern than the horribly outdated Grand Marquis. The G6E front end treatment would look appropriate for Mercury.

Dude research the last 2 years about falcon and you will have the answers you're looking for. No need to go over the same info again and again. |
