A small aside, Poles celebrate on May 3rd. At least all the ones I know. Not sure about Nov. 11.

Anyway, back to your spirited discussion.

Very good point!

Where I grew up, there were no ethnic enclaves. No one referred to themselves as hyphenated Americans. I moved to Milwaukee. There were and are ethnic enclaves to this day. However, when it was time for me to buy my house, I quite purposefully did not move into "my" enclave. I moved into a suburb because I was quite uncomfortable seeing people fly "my" foreign flag in front of their houses (on American soil).

Just for the record:

On May 3rd we celebrate the anniversary of our very first Constitution of the Republic of Poland (1794) - the very first European modern constitution, world's second after American.

On November 11th we DO celebrate our Independence Day, to commemorate the re-creation of the Republic of Poland after its non-existence for 123 years, in 1918.
