Re: Toyota factory turns landscape to arid wilderness
Yeah the enviro-friendly stuff regarding the Delta Township plant was on the local news. For example there's tanks that hold rainwater for flushing toilets

Re: Toyota factory turns landscape to arid wilderness
Did anyone read this article? Or just the blurb in front. It was published a by the Daily Mail ( National Enquirer type ). The plant has been in existence for over 100 yrs and it supplies Ni to the entire world.
Goofy reporting.. Quote: Toyota gets the metal from a Canadian company whose smelting facility at Sudbury has spewed sulphur dioxide into the air for more than a century. The car giant buys about 1,000 tons a year from the plant, which is owned by Inco, one of the world's largest nickel-mining companies. Unquote: If one were to be properly outraged at this plant and what its done to sudbury then the correct thing(s) to do are .. throw out your wife's heirloom cutlery; ask during your next medical procedure that they use non-stainless steel implements - just use the normal steel ones, the ones that rust; Go outside and rip all the stainless steel off your vehicle. Canada has known about this for over 100 years and it still exists? Inco must have some pull up North. Last edited by PhishPhood : 12-10-2006 at 01:20 AM. |

Toyota factory turns landscape to arid wilderness
First off, it's not a Toyota factory. Secondly, they buy a measly 1000 tons a year. That's tiny. Ford also buys their nickel for their hybrids from Inco too. Lastly, the environmental regulations on these kind of plants are much stricter, and getting stricter all the time, then they were years ago. |

If the CEO in the CEO article was actually from someone at GM theres no question most people here would congratulate him on "trying to keep one step ahead of the competition" and "hes not resting on his laurals!" and all the opposite stuff thats mentioned there.

Re: Toyota factory turns landscape to arid wilderness
I'm sure others buy from this metal foundry. Everyone should be called upon who does, not just Toyota. Although this does not exactly coincide with Toyota's "green" image.

National Enquirer? I wouldn't give it that much credit.
Don't believe a word you read in ANY Fleet Street rag. |
