Toyota Prius factory turns area into arid wasteland

Quote:
The 'green-living' Toyota Prius has become the ultimate statement for those seeking to stress their commitment to the environment.

However, the environment-saving credentials of the cars are seriously undermined by the disclosure that one of the car's essential components is produced at a factory that has created devastation likened to the arid environment of the moon.

A Diesel motor won't fix that problem.

At least it's in Canada. And it's probably GM sabotage, as Toyota can do no wrong.

Yeah the enviro-friendly stuff regarding the Delta Township plant was on the local news. For example there's tanks that hold rainwater for flushing toilets

So, if this factory is as bad as it seems, why is it still operating?

Re: Toyota factory turns landscape to arid wilderness

Did anyone read this article? Or just the blurb in front. It was published a by the Daily Mail ( National Enquirer type ). The plant has been in existence for over 100 yrs and it supplies Ni to the entire world.

Goofy reporting..

Quote:

Toyota gets the metal from a Canadian company whose smelting facility at Sudbury has spewed sulphur dioxide into the air for more than a century. The car giant buys about 1,000 tons a year from the plant, which is owned by Inco, one of the world's largest nickel-mining companies.
Unquote:

If one were to be properly outraged at this plant and what its done to sudbury then the correct thing(s) to do are ..
throw out your wife's heirloom cutlery;
ask during your next medical procedure that they use non-stainless steel implements - just use the normal steel ones, the ones that rust;
Go outside and rip all the stainless steel off your vehicle.

Canada has known about this for over 100 years and it still exists? Inco must have some pull up North.

Wow... is that for real?! That is soo awesome... rain water to flush the toilets... what will they think of next?! Using scrapped Toyotas to make GM vehicles?! Now we're talking!!!

"We at GM are so committed to bringing quality vehicles to you that we even put a little 'inspiration' from Toyota into our cars and trucks. Too bad that the inspiration comes at the cost of an actual Toyota vehicle."

Now, that would be awesome!!!

Toyota factory turns landscape to arid wilderness

First off, it's not a Toyota factory. Secondly, they buy a measly 1000 tons a year. That's tiny. Ford also buys their nickel for their hybrids from Inco too. Lastly, the environmental regulations on these kind of plants are much stricter, and getting stricter all the time, then they were years ago.

You can't deny half of what comes out of Toyota is propoganda........just look at the other recent post, concerning their CEO.........

If you think GM fans are rabid on Toyota.........consider what would happen if Cadillac brought back their 500cid V8 and Toyota gave Lexus the same thing.......who would get S*** on more??

Its one thing with Toyota spewing PR crap, its another when someone decides to say Toyota is killing stuff when the Factory they mention doesnt even build the actual car.

If the CEO in the CEO article was actually from someone at GM theres no question most people here would congratulate him on "trying to keep one step ahead of the competition" and "hes not resting on his laurals!" and all the opposite stuff thats mentioned there.

I'm sure others buy from this metal foundry. Everyone should be called upon who does, not just Toyota. Although this does not exactly coincide with Toyota's "green" image.

National Enquirer? I wouldn't give it that much credit.

Don't believe a word you read in ANY Fleet Street rag.
