Re: Toyota IQ in USA?
God, how annoying is Toyota these days? Seriously. This car the Toyota "IQ" competes with what car directly? Yes the "Smart" cars. Oh my goodness, you can't make this stuff up!

Re: Toyota IQ in USA?
Yeah, more fuel efficient choices are a bad thing. GM could beat this to market with the Beat. Question is will they...

Re: Toyota IQ in USA?
As long as this can tow my boat ...
Ok, just kidding. I'm seeing some Smart cars around Michigan now, and this new Toyota looks pretty nice. Given the high gas costs, and because it has the magic Toyota name, this thing would sell quite well in the US. |

Re: Toyota IQ in USA?
This car looks WAY better than the SMART, IMO. The only question I have is why does Toyota need two cars (Yaris + Yaris HB, IQ), to cover a market that Honda only needs one car for (Fit HB)? That doesn't even count all the Scion shennanigans.
I like that this would handle better than a Yaris, but forcing people to give up the back seat marginalizes this car. If this 2 seater weighs 2200, could they do a 4 seater that weighs about 2600? I wonder if they wouldn't be better off making this thing a "premium Yaris" and charging Fit (or higher) prices for it. People like small cars right now, and it's not like Lexus will be getting something like this... Come to think of it, that sort of thing might work in Europe as well - . |

WTF? More small cars is a bad thing? This looks a lot better than a Smart car, and probably gets much better economy (not hard, Smart sucked the big one here) for a much lower price...oooo how horrible is that?

Re: Toyota IQ in USA?
Toyota wants to cover every niche. When Pontiac brought out the Fiero, Toyota brought out the MR2; when Cadillac brought out the XLR, Lexus brought out the SC; etc. Maybe this will stretch their engineering resources. It seems to on the Tundra with its tail gate, camshaft, and other problems.

Re: Toyota IQ in USA?
What Yaris costs less than $10K? I can't find one on Toyota's site. They all say $11,550. This writer is on Toyocrack. And, I'd rather have a fortwo, this 'IQ' (which is just soooo original, btw) is ugly. I prefer the looks of the smart, and definitely the proven track record of the smart.
