While it's not the most attractive vehicle on the planet - hey, it's a Toyota - this really isn't any worse-looking than the Aveo, in my opinion. Since it has the three overlapping circles/ovals, I'm sure it will sell well. Drat.

I like the design. It's different, but not "Pontiac Aztek Different"....hahah...definently is a huge step up from the current Echo. It could do well if it came to the US against the Aveo, Accent, Rio, Honda Jazz....etc. etc. Maybe is the Jazz does well they'll bring it over, or if the Aveo sells stay at a steady climb.

Re: Toyota Echo Hatchback - REDESIGNED, and DEBUT!
One of the things that really bug me about the center-pod instrument cluster is the giant piece of plastic that drops down in front of both the driver and (especially) the passenger.
I see a lot of Echos around here, but I just don't understand why anyone who's looking for an economical car would choose an Echo, which is expensive (relative to Aveos, Accents and Rios) and comes with Toyota's high interest rates. Call me blind, but I don't believe Toyota's quality is that much superior than others that it warrants thousands of $$ more at the time of purchase. |

Re: Toyota Echo Hatchback - REDESIGNED, and DEBUT!
The Echo has by far suffered the worst "Make a hatchback into a sedan so it appeals to the NA market" transition. The original Vitz/Echo hatch design is superior to the pea-pod sedan mock up we have here in every way.

I'm not sure what more sickening...the fact that a multi-billion dollar corporation actually spent time and money designing something that looks like this or that millions of people with bad taste and little dignity will actually buy one.
BTW, is it just me, or it does the front end look like the car is having an allergic reaction?
