Unfort the Big 3 treated the American consumer like KFC for decades which is why many folks in the US switched to imports.

I'm sorry but nissan dealers take the cake on treating consumers the absolute worst...

I have never had a good experience at a Nissan dealer...

The worst sales experiences over the years without a doubt..

He didnt write the legislation. WTF are you talking about? Congress wrote the legislation and "green" senators made sure that the legislation was aimed at owners of "gas guzzlers" and that there were no restrictions on imported cars.

Yeah, service is much better at import dealers. HAve you ever read any accounts of people who tried to get warranty repairs at an import dealer?

Since when have the Corolla and Camry and RAV4 been designed in America? Never to my knowledge. The Tundra, Avalon and Venza were designed here. Lexus and Scion models are not designed here either. The majority of Toyotas sold here are designed in Japan and 40% of them are built outside NA.

Who said service? - The Big 3 put out crap cars for years with little regard to consumers wants/needs.

Hence many found what they wanted and a better product from other manufacturers.

no, but he signed it.

either way, cfc has done a great job of increasing the nation's average mpg, but it wouldve been nice to see domestic auotmakers benefit from this. an additional benefit for keeping it d3 wouldve been nice.

The auto industry ( the vehicle makers and their dealers ) used its minnions in DC to create the original legislation. Then they gave it to the Congresscritters to write it into law.

The origin of the bill was when Detroit and Torrance saw how well Germany's bill pumped up sales there so the vehicle makers got their people in DC to construct one for the US. That's why there can be as little as 2 mpg improvement in trucks. It has nothing to do with any enviro-greenie anything.

The greenie Senators wanted a stronger bill but they were voted down...'Shut up and vote YES'

True...his constituents in Detroit and Torrance and 20,000 small business locations all over the 50 states gave him a bill that they wanted. It was a bill that they constructed. So did you expect him not to sign it if everyone wanted it done? Vehicle makers, dealers and Congresscritters?
