Spy Shots: ’06 VW Jetta
Bora or not, it's heading your way like a big wind.
by Hans Lehmann/Hidden Image

The prototypes got caught during hot-weather towing tests in California . Despite the disguise at front- and rear end, they clearly reveal the shape and size of the new generation Passat and Jetta.

The Passat is due for launch in 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show in March and will have new transversely mounted engines.

The VW Jetta is expected to be shown at the next Detroit Motor Show in January 2005 because it is particularly important for the U.S. market. The Jetta is being built in Mexico.

Their coverings make them both look kind of Altima-ish, especially the front end. Perhaps that was intentional to throw people off.

That CGI pic resembles the shape of the Toyota Corolla alittle.

RCtennis3811, I like your spy shots better than the ones that I found. And your spy shots make the next generation Jetta look decidedly - and surprisingly - down-scale. When the last generation Jetta was initially introduced, I was smitten. Now, I'm not so impressed, particularly based on the side view.

Just take a look at the A6... and you'll get the family resemblance.
Ie - there's nothing new here.

The family resemblance is as close as ever.

Looks almost...dare I say...Aveo-ish? First thing I thought of when I saw that blue one was an Aveo sedan.

VW's are getting more and more uglier every remake.

I don't like the headlights, the car looks "cheap". VW's are now supposed to look better than this! Only women drive VW's anyway!

another observation: The taillights look like the bmw z3.

They are boring, but boring seems to sell. The old models never looked exciting.

Buick, that's why I said I didn't know if it was real or not. The only real one is the first shot.
