Spied: Hyundai BH RWD Sedan

Quote:
Hyundai will use the New York Autoshow in April to introduce their flagship sedan, codenamed BH. It will be the successor of the Equus luxury sedan in its domestic market. These are the first shots surfaced that shows barely any disguise of the long-anticipated vehicle.

Less disguise! It's slowly coming off.

with a 340hp V8......one might say this 'BH' is throwing down against the Chrysler 300C......

then again....the real question is will anyone take a RWD, V8 powered, $30K+, import manufactured vechicle seriously? Aside from trucks/SUVs.......

If it's cheap enough, it'll sell. The Koreans have shown they can put together a fine interior. My comments on Kia interiors here:

The biggest question mark is handling.

$30k+ for a Hyundai eh?..who do they think they are? Their claim to fame is being cheap "point A to point B" transportation, nothing more, nothing less.

It worked for Chrysler.

I wouldn't downplay Hyundai so fast. Only time will tell but w/ their new products I think they're going to be winning over quite a few people. I admire them for even having a RWD v8 in the pipeline. It's sad really that we've been hearing about an affordable RWD sedan from the General for years now, and here's Hyundai who hasen't been much of a major player in the market, almost ready to deliver.

Theres a differance between throwing a car together and creating a world class platform. Hyundai isnt even close to being in the same league as GM, Toyota, or FoMoCo...they know it..the people of America know it..hell, my 103year old grandmother knows it. It's no secret. Hyundai is playing the sparklers...Toyota, Honda and the American Big 3 are sending nukes at one another.

I wouldn't say that just yet. Hyundai is a rising star, and even Toyota is starting to worry about them.

I agree. If the price is right compared to it's competitors, I'd consider it.

Some in Hyundai may even agree with you. However, keep this in mind....Honda and Toyota's first entrys into the U.S. market decades ago were not great cars at all (I wasn't there, but that I what I have read about and what I was told). Even in the late 80's, their minivans weren't competitive. However, what they did is they 'take their best shot', learn what you did right and what you did wrong, and improve in it.

Hyundai is entering a new market. My guess is the car will be far from perfect, but it will do some things well, and it will likely be priced very competitivley so some people buy it. Then they will take the lessons they learned and apply it to a second gen version a few years from now..and THAT is when the big boys will have to worry about this vehicle.
