Re: Spied: 2010 Ford Taurus

The back looks like a Chrysler Sebring/Dodge Avenger and the back doors look like stretched out camry doors. Not a good look.

As far as the Impala goes i think its left for dead or they think they can pull a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis with it. If they think they can produce the W body Impala past the product run of MY2010 the Impala and sell good then they must be really messed up in the heads. It doesnt work for Ford with the Crown Vic & Mercury Grand Marquis and it wont work for Chevy.

Reminds me of a Jag big time. An improvement over the current car IMO.

It's basically a Ford MKS.

Lincoln redesigned the Taurus platform for the MKS (to have ride and handling dynamics suitable for its price and class), and now Ford will be using that architecture instead of the current one.

Engines will include 3.5L V6 and 3.5L Turbo, with a hybrid and turbo I4 to follow.

Does look more 'swoopy' than the current one.

But really, there's nowhere to go but up with the Taurus. It almost looks like a sedan designed by HAL 2000 or some other emotion-less automaton.

Re: Spied: 2010 Ford Taurus

With discounts, you can get an Impala for cheaper than a Malibu and I wouldn't be surprised if a $20,000 Impala LS is still profitable for GM. They're probably in no hurry to replace it because the reliable, half decent, and relatively old parts are cheap.

Enthusiasts would love to see a monster RWD beast and people more concerned with fun and prestige with their transportation would like to see a newer, classier design. But it's likely that a decent $20,000 Impala is better for GM's business than an excellent $27,000 one.

By all accounts, the Azera is a very nice car as long as you don't give a hoot about handling. Pretty ugly, though.

Re: Spied: 2010 Ford Taurus

It's ridiculous how much better that looks compared to the current car. That being said, it looks like a design we would've seen 10 years ago, kinda like an old Buick Regal, and perhaps even a bit Korean looking. Still, miles better than the current one.

Re: Spied: 2010 Ford Taurus

That might as well be the next LaCrosse. We're again entering a time where all cars are looking alike. All these sedans looks coupe-hatchbackish. With the weird back window and arching roofs.
The next generation of cars will be one size fits all crossover-coupe-like-hatchbacks-with-4-doors. No more sedans, two-doors, crossovers, SUVs. It'll be all meshed into one. Big heavy and expensive.

Too me the profile looks very similar to the MKS. Hopefully the sheetmetal will be totally different.

Re: Spied: 2010 Ford Taurus

I'd never buy a Ford because every Ford I've driven has been a piece of junk. I'm not saying it to be mean. My brother came by so I could help him change a headlight on his Mustang and it was ridiculous. It was impossible to replace it without braking the little plastic piece that holds it into place. The engineers at Ford should be fired. My parents have a 2005 Taurus that feels 20 years old. It's awful to drive. I'm not a GM flag waver but Ford makes GM cars look like expensive Japanese cars. I really like the Fusion but there's no way I'd buy a Ford.

Re: Spied: 2010 Ford Taurus

it's bland, but Ford has to start somewhere - and save for the A8 no one seems to like ANY large FWD sedans - so well sculpted bland might be just the ticket - for now.

It will look the way Azera was to look before it melted in the sun - so shoulders, bland mildly sporty front, and unlike the Azera an actual sedan-looking trunk.

The only reintroduced the Taurus name about 2 years ago.
