Smoother riding Lincoln SUV gets a new look and smoother ride, will face the redone C

Until the introduction last fall of the new Lincoln Zephyr sedan, the Navigator SUV had been the lone success story in the Lincoln line-up. Essentially a luxury version of the Ford Expedition SUV, the Navigator has been adopted by celebrities as a high-profile status symbol.

Its main competitor in that realm, the Cadillac Escalade SUV, has also been redesigned this year. The new Escalade was introduced late last year and is expected to go on sale in the spring.

Since when was the Navigator adopted as a status symbol?

2001? The Escalade has been kickin' ass for the last 4 years, becoming an American cultural icon. The Navigator is just another fullsize luxury SUV.

Smoother riding Lincoln... will face the redone Cadillac Escalade.
----------

Calling the Cadillac "redone" is a slam. No one ever says anything like: U2 premiers redone album, Wendy's unveils redone sandwich, or Apple unveils redone computer. In essence they're calling the Escalade old and irrelevant.

It became a status symbol when it created the luxury full size suv segment and has become a huge symbol with big celebrities and sports stars driving them on tv,music videos, etc...

Just like what britney spears was driving in the news this week, a lincoln navigator.

Yes, having a baby in your lap with no seatbelt is a great advertisement.

The Escalade took over all of the Navigator's hype.

Without the Navigator, there very well may not have been an Escalade. Remember the cobbled together rebadged Denali clone with rear drum brakes that Cadillac offered in the face of the Navigator back in 1998?

I prefer the Navigator over the Escalade because too much bling-bling can be a bad (and tacky) thing. Give me understated luxury any day.

All this from a Cadillac man. Sheesh. *shrugs*

Understated luxury is out the window with the new Navigator design.

I wanted to say the same in a more elaborate manner, but you guys were first

Anyway, it's funny how for an "understated look" in luxury SUVs you now have to go to bling-bling Cadillac. Navigator surely made Escalade look understated, or even modest!

Now West Coast Customs can surely be pissed off about the Gator, they can't do much about it anymore...

There is nothing undersated in neither one of these trucks. Understated luxury is an anathema to the very existence and escence of this things. Is funny to see them around but I wouldn't be caught dead driving one, is not only wasteful and grotesque but embarrasing and in bad taste.

Having said this, I have not only made peace with the new face of the Navigator but I also LOVE IT. Especially the headlights.
