Ridgeline Starts From $27,700

Ridgeline Starts From $27,700

Honda's first pickup truck will be priced from $27,700, the company has announced. The Ridgeline will be available in three trim levels -- RT, RTS and RTL -- with base prices ranging from $27,700 for the RT to $31,490 for the RTL, not including a $515 destination fee. A 255-hp VTEC V6, five-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive will be standard on all models, while air conditioning, tilt wheel, power windows and locks, CD audio, cargo tie-downs and cargo bed lamps are also standard. All are also equipped for towing, with transmission and oil coolers, dual radiator fans and trailer wiring. RTS models add alloys, a more powerful CD-changer audio system, steering wheel controls, dual-zone automatic climate control and a power driver seat. The RTL's equipment includes leather seating, with a moonroof and a navigation system optional. When equipped with the moonroof, XM Satellite Radio and the navigation system, the sticker jumps to $35,155, including destination.

Re: Ridgeline Starts From $27,700

You know, I read this article and found myself utterly amazed at how nonchalantly it was reported. If I wrote it, I might have entitled the article "Honda Ridgeline to cost HOW MUCH?!"

$28K seems a bit steep for a pick-up, don't it? I guess it isn't supposed to do battle with the Silverado or F-150, but perhaps with the Avalanche; or perhaps it's intended to create a segment between them?

Re: Ridgeline Starts From $27,700

I saw an interview with some honda exec....

He said this POS was for people who want all the utility of a pickup but without the 8 foot bed...

I will bet though that this'll be a great success in Canada.

People here are stupid.

wow, and we will probably see no bad press about it. this will at least give it a chance to crash and burn, even honda owners can tell they are getting ripped off with a deal like that... or at least i hope they can.

I expect to see a good number of these. Here in San Francisco, there's enough yuppies to check it out (along with their money) and the others who'll say, "Claude, that's so butch!" It's sad what people will do to not buy an American truck.

This was posted long ago.

Considering it's a midsize truck, I'd say it's pricey.

This is for Accord driving yuppies to ride around in going "look I drive a truck!"

Now, if the Ridgeline had substance and class to its design like the oh-so-sweet Caddy in your signature, maybe I could find a place in my heart for it.

Til then, I'll pass.

....or it's the Accord for yuppies who want to be able to buy more stuff at Home Depot on the weekends.

Re: Ridgeline Starts From $27,700

I know a few people who only buy Honda. One of my buddies is like that and he saw the ads during the superbowl and said "whoo hoo, I'm going to get a pick up finally", like none had been around before. I snidely said, "it ain't a real truck".

The Ridgeline is coming off the line as we speak according to the local paper. Plant is near my mother in laws house.

I don't care for the Ridgeline either, but pricing it is spot on. Option out a Colorado Crew with 4wd, power everything, I5, Auto, Trailer Group and your running $27+. The ridgeline has more room than the Colorado inside, same towing capacity, roughly equal bed size and arguably better handling/ride. I think it is just a nasty Avalanche knock-off, but still, you can't fault Honda on equipment, features, or pricing.

Re: Ridgeline Starts From $27,700

The pricing isn't that bad when you consider that Honda Odysseys can reach around that amount too. I think the truck isn't too bad, but its not a true workhorse truck like the Colorado and Silverado. I think the truck will perform well for what it can do. But I would want a truck to play it tough, and I don't think the Ridgeline is meant for that. It may have the towing capacity and features, but like Cassie said, it suits Accord buyers who want something a bit larger than a 14.0 cubic foot trunk but still want the Honda driving characteristics. Personally, with that money, I could see getting a nice Z71 extended cab Silverado pickup with the 5.3-liter engine.
